2. The baseline Caitians, the Kzin, and the Lyrans.

5. Just the Cait and the Ferasans, no Kzin

5) As many that can be reasonably differentiated from one another. I'd rather not see a bunch of redundant cat races. On the other hand, if you can come up with a dozen that don't blend together, go ahead.

At the very least, I'd take option two and throw in Sparrials. Maybe more humanoid ones too.

This would be my preference.

I third this.

OK, 5 (in the form of 'As many that can be reasonably differentiated from one another.') and a desire for Sparrials to show up seems to have won, so here's a related question:

Sparrials question I

How closely related are the Sparrials to the main Caitian race?

1. Nearly the same species.

2. A close cousin, much like the Kzin.

3. A more distant cousin, but derived from the same species that the Caitians were engineered from.

4. Related through a different feliform taken from Earth.

5. Visually similar, but really not related, being derived from a different carnivoran, engineered to have more cat-like traits.

6. Something else (please specify).

Please include the number of your preferred option when you vote.

What is our stance on the relationship between humans and other species relationships? Like say Vulcans and klingons?

A lot of species that were engineered from humans by the Preservers are capable of producing viable offspring with humans, though some need a bit of help from bioengineers. Spock can still exist in this setting, for example, and probably Kheylar, as well.
