Race/class discard infecting the battle

I have a question about discarding race during a battle. I know that it can be done but i wounder if for example I as an elf fight a face sucker wich has +6 against me and I decide to not be an elf anymore do i stil face the bonus +6 against it or just the normal level 8

If a monster has a bonus against your Class or Race and you discard that Class or Race, the monster loses that bonus.
