Re: Combatives martial arts styles
As a final word, I didnt mean to imply that anyone was flaming. I have seen that whole technical debate play out too many times on the net, in the gym and at events. But the points made here were beyond polite, and I can only wish the level of etiquette here will one day be reached on MMA.tv.
In a game sense though GURPS does a very, very good job of simulating attempted attacks for subs with the contested skill rolls. A case could be made for making "gi less" grappling have certain modifiers to attacks (penalty) and escapes (bonus) to model this. But since most soldiers/warriors/ folks fighting will have clothing/armor/uniforms on this could be dabbling in details that dont particularly enhance gameplay. Unless of course a player were to pull a "wanderlai". (Meaning back when Silva fought in IVC there were ALOT of stories about a cream he would rub down with that made him super slippery once he started sweating, which created huge problems for the wrestlers he fought in those events). |
