The first peek at the new logos for Melee and Wizard: http://www.sjgames.com/ill/archive/2018-04-17

I must say, I'm quite impressed! Just enough new look, but still keeping that retro feel from the originals! And I like the sword for Melee and the lightning bolt for Wizard. Nice touch, which immediately lets you know what the game is about (if the titles didn't already do that for you). Well done folks!

Two thumbs up from here... ;-)

It looks like Ty's font research may have paid dividends, if Steve was having trouble remembering the details after all these years!

Looks fun! I can't wait to get the new sets and pull together some old friends for a proper night of gladiatorial fights.

Not that different from the old look. And that's good.

Hmm ... I'd recommend the art director require a tweak the sword in the Melee logo to make it look less like a generic symbol for a sword and more like an actual sword. The proportions look wrong to me.

It's a bit flashy for my tastes, but I'm not viewing it in context (i.e., at normal size and on a box). So I'll hold off judgment. Besides, I assume SJG has professional graphic designers and I am decidedly NOT a designer.

I do like the contrast - steel for Melee, fire for Wizard. Agreeably evocative.

For me the way there are three zigzags in the lightning bolt tail of the Z in Wizard makes it a bit busy. Maybe see how it looks with two?

Agreed. The sword looks chubby and cartoonish - never a good combination. If these "added graphics" are needed (?) why not go with a design which looks like real sword - something that connotes power and danger; not mirth (?).

Additionally, the "lightning bolts" on the Wizard logo remind me of graffiti-art; which is cool on the side of a Brooklyn subway train, but again, like the odd-looking sword, both of these elements seem to contribute nothing more than "adding graphic slickery solely for the point of adding graphic slickery".

One thing that was unique about the look of the TFT product-line versus the some of the other game-systems - which were flooded with cartoonish and buffoonish art-elements - was that every thing was by-and-large presented in a highly-dignified and very serious tone - these designs are conveying a different vibe to my eye - sort of a TFT meets Munchkin look.
