Has Anyone committed to making GCS Files
If so, which ones? I can help make some/several if it's needed. I specifically want to know about the spell lists because those are probably the most tedious to build by hand, but can help with anything that is missing.
What's Done:
https://github.com/richardwilkes/gcs_library The rest of the content is pending in two pull requests: https://github.com/richardwilkes/gcs_library/pulls The occupational template branch also includes the skills and advantages, as well as some fixes to the racial templates that have been merged into the trunk. The Inventory branch pull request contains the equipment catalog from Dungeon Fantasy Adventurers. |
Re: Has Anyone committed to making GCS Files
I already made GCS files for the races, but haven't pushed them yet. I started on the templates for the classes, but haven't gotten very far.

Re: Has Anyone committed to making GCS Files
Weren't they going to release official files after the proper release?
|
Re: Has Anyone committed to making GCS Files
GCS or GCA? Because I've heard it about GCA, but not about GCS.

Re: Has Anyone committed to making GCS Files
Oh right, sorry. I forgot GCS exists. I only learned about it recently.
Side question though, for the encumbrance in GCS, is there a way to organize things by what container they are in so you can tell at a glance how much weight you'll drop if you shed a sack or backpack? It didn't seem like it did when I was poking at it. |

Re: Has Anyone committed to making GCS Files
If you look at the datafiles for the low tech there are actually some premade containers. though admittedly bigger ones it might help you in the design.

The big annoying thing is changing the page references on all of them. |
Re: Has Anyone committed to making GCS Files
Bumping this thread to check progress. I have checked in the Dungeon Fantasy RPG spell list and am trying to find out what is the next thing to work on.

Please do not bump threads, it is against the forum rules. It is acceptable if you include a suitable addition to the conversation however. Thank you. </Moderator> |

The trick is to use virtual containers. Not all containers have to be backpacks and such. |
Re: Has Anyone committed to making GCS Files
I've got all the skills done, and all the spells done. I think I'll be working on the traits next unless anyone wants to take that one.

Re: Has Anyone committed to making GCS Files
Just made a huge commit and pull request containing the majority of skills, advantages, disadvantages, and professional templates.
The last thing needed is equipment. |
Re: Has Anyone committed to making GCS Files
Good job Pseudonym. Looks like you got most of the gcs files done. Looks like Barbarian gave you as much problem as it gave me -- I have a Barbarian.gct (based on the DF Barbarian.gct) that's fairly complete but doesn't work.

Re: Has Anyone committed to making GCS Files
Thank you very much for doing this. It is extremely helpful.
Do you know of anyway to apply equipment modifiers such as fine, balanced, dwarven, etc, without adjusting the entries by hand? |

Unfortunately, doing the modifiers by hand is currently the best way. |
Re: Has Anyone committed to making GCS Files
Thanks. It isn't difficult to do by hand, but it is tedious.

Re: Has Anyone committed to making GCS Files
I've not followed the GCS threads - since I use/utilize GCA for all of my character building needs. However, seeing some comments about GCS, what is it exactly?
I had presumed an excel spreadsheet. But now, after seeing comments about it reading XML files, I'm not so sure what it is... So, what is it? :) |

Yes, it's a Java application. It's like GCA, except open source and portable.

Re: Has Anyone committed to making GCS Files
I'm new to GCS usage, so I'm not sure where to ask this. I'm starting up a DF game and want to point my players to it. Most have no GURPS experience so I'd like to just have them load the DFRPG portions of GCS. To that end, since all the Profession templates and Pregens mention Quirks, would it be possible to add a Generic Quirk to the Quirks section of Advantages? I know that you can just add a new Advantage manually, but this way it would be easy for new players to drag it over to their character and just change the name.
Sorry if this is the wrong place to put this. And thanks to everyone involved for all their hard work. It's an awesome tool. |
Re: Has Anyone committed to making GCS Files
Most GMs are pretty free with quirks; take whatever 5 you want, with no need to pick from a limited list. So I would let players pick quirks from any gcs data file, not just the DFRPG ones, as long as they're not totally crazily out of genre. Or make up their own.
If your goal is just to avoid making them use multiple files, sure, you could just add more quirks to "Dungeon Fantasy RPG.adq", either the specific ones you want, or "Quirk 1" though "Quirk 5" and let them pencil them in. By the way, the worst Quirk is "Incompetence: Stealth." Don't take that one unless you want to play DFRPG on hard mode. |
