Obsidian Weapons

I've been thinking on trying to do some tribal type lowtech stuff eventually but I can't seem to figure out where the prices on Obsidian weapons would be or a cost modifier to apply to steel ones to get to that point.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Re: Obsidian Weapons

At the correct TL they would be Treated as Good quality stone blades But compared to steel(a TL 3+ material) they would be cheap at that higher TL. See B275.

Thanks, I missed the sentence at the very end where it said the price. Guess I was just looking for it in the wrong place and scanned over that without parsing it. :)

Of course anywhere stone blades are much of an issue doesn't have a cash economy, which makes the price multipliers even more abstract and imaginary than they usually are.

Og's blade is black and sharp. Og want four mammoth tusks, not one!

Re: Obsidian Weapons

If Og wants any mammoth tusk for shiny black knife Og go use knife kill mammoth himself. Mrugnak make sharp enough knife in 20 minutes. Knife just break soon anyways. Mrugnak trade mammoth tusk for two handfulls shiny black beads and deer antler hat.

Og has starving children to think of. One handful of black beads, deer antler hat and Og throw in shiny rock good for jewelry.

Grogr think Og and Mrugnak strange - why they no respect for way things always done?

Grogr happy to give sharp stone knife to brother-in-law, or nephew, or anyone else in both the Bear clan and the Redbark moiety.

Grogr think Og and Mrugnak forget they live in gift economy, not trade economy. Grogr find Cost Factors hard to parse.

But obsidian gifts more big respect. Make Og big man. Not little flint.

Re: Obsidian Weapons

Og lost his weapons trading mammoth tusk futures. Og only has obsidian knife left. No good for hunting mammoth, but very good for cutting meat.
