Microscope
Does anyone here recommend Microscope?
I'm tempted to purchase it and use it to collaboratively build RPG campaign frameworks |

We're planning to use it in a few weeks to fill in some of the background for my current space campaign, so we'll see how that goes… |
Re: Microscope
Microscope is pretty cool, and could be used to either create backstory or to tie up loose ends at the end of a campaign. It might depend on how much control you want over your world as GM, though, since the story will be collaboratively created by the whole group.

What is it?

Re: Microscope
It's a game about creating histories. It is a role-playing game, but a highly unconventional one, having no GM, and no game system for modelling characters.
The basic idea is that players take turns in doing things like sub-dividing the timespan being played over, into periods, or adding an event to a period, or creating a scene that is part of an event. When it gets to scenes, people think up characters and play them within the scene. As there's no game system, scenes are probably going to be more about decisions or politics than fights. The PDF is on Warehouse 23, where I bought it two weeks ago. I haven't played the game yet. |
Re: Microscope
It is important to note that individual players have no "ownership" of individual characters; any player can play any character in a scene. Microscope is a neat game--wel worth the money.

Re: Microscope
Ah, completely different from my context guess from the first 3 posts; I thought it was some kind of online campaign storage platform.
