Deathmask

I have 2 questions regarding the use of Deathmask.

1) Do I have to have it equipped to use the ability or can it be using while carrying it?

2) Can I use it to discard an undead in a combat that I am not in?

1) You must have it equipped.

2) The card says that you must be fighting the monster.

Thanks for the quick reply Andrew. I don't remember the Legends card I have saying that I have to be fighting it but in search of a pic of he actual card I stumbled on the post that you stated you were adding errata to it saying that. I guess I should have done a little more searching before asking the question.
