Do you have to discard the chicken steed after you run away or do your keep it and succeed at all future run away attempts unless the monster you are fighting specifically says you can’t.

You don't have to discard it: Nothing on the card indicates it must be discarded, and the rules with respect to Running Away and Steeds say you can discard a steed if you don't want to be negatively impacted by its Run Away penalty.
