Negative combat strength

A 4-level monster gets enhanced with a -5 card. What is now the monster's level? I think it can't fall below 1, right?
When talking about negative combat strenght what do you mean exactly? Can you give me an example?
Thanks!

The Potted Plant is Level 1. The Baby enhancer gives the monster -5. The total combat strength is 1-5 = -4. I'm not sure why you think combat strength can't go below 1 when the rules say explicitly that it can.

I thought the rules said that a monster's level can't go below 1 but the total combat strength of a monster or a player in a battle can be negative and I was wondering how can that be achieved..

Re: Negative combat strength

"Level" and "Combat strength" are two completely different things.
A Munchkin's "Level" can never go below 1, but his Combat Strength can go negative if there are enough negative modifiers.

And the same for a Monster. Monster Enhancers are bonuses (and occasionally penalties) to combat strength, not modifications to the Level of the Monster. Andrew gave an example of playing a Monster Enhancer that reduces a Monster's combat strength to a negative value.

So in the example given above the Potted Plant would be a 1-level monster with a combat strength of -4 at that battle?

Yes, that's correct.
