Taming a monster
If I am a Ranger, how many times can I use my ability to tame a monster and turn it into a steed since I can only have one steed in play (unless I use cheat)? Each time before I tame a monster I discard the previous one?
Can a tamed monster go into my hand or has to stay in play? Moreover, can I reverse the taming at some time and normally fight the monster? It's very nice being a Ranger...! :) |
Re: Taming a monster
The card itself says you may tame a single Monster. That means one, and only one, per combat.
Cards "in play" never return to your hand without a very specific instruction to do so (which Ranger does not have), so you must use the tamed Monster as a Steed immediately, discarding a Steed you already had in play if necessary. Putting the Monster card into your hand would make it hard for everyone to remember what card you tamed, and you could later cheat and play a different, more powerful Monster to get a bigger bonus. There's a definite effort to make things simple whenever possible, as well, so requiring people to remember what Monster you tamed and put in your hand four turns back is not simple. Finally, once it's your Steed, it's a Steed, and can't be anything else. Until it's discarded of course, and then somehow resurrected. Then it's whatever it's supposed to be under those circumstances. |

Something relevant that I just thought: When a Ranger joins a combat as a helper and tames one of the monsters, whose steed does the tamed monster become?
