Munchkin AT: What Items are affected by Curse! The Limit?
 

"The Limit." You cannot use any items in your next combat. So does this mean one shots? Or does it also mean equipped items? What about cards that aren't one shots like "Cosmic Owl" and "Backpack?" A backpack is an item yeah but cosmic owl is like a being...Is it technically an item?

Actually, Curse! The Limit says that you get not bonuses from Items. That means you could use an Item (one-shot or otherwise) that removes a Monster, but you wouldn't be able to use a one-shot Item that provides a combat bonus. Backpack doesn't provide a combat bonus, so its ability will not be affected. Cosmic Owl is not an Item because it doesn't have a Gold Piece value, so it can be played as well. For a card to represent an Item, there must be a Gold Piece value on the card.

Oh, hmm.
I was just reading the top of my card and it literally says that you can't use any items in your next combat, so are you saying that it's supposed to be interpreted that it's just the items with combat bonuses that you can't use?

Or are there different versions of the card perhaps?

I'm working from an annotated list of my own making, so it's possible I missed one. I'll pull the cards and see.

Missed annotating this card, apparently. It says you can't use any Items in your next combat. So, one-shot Items are still Items, and you would not be able to use one if it affects the combat (e.g., gives a bonus, removes a Monster). Backpack doesn't have a combat-based ability, so it would continue to work.

I didn't want to start a new thread when I just want a clarification.

The Limit says that you may not use items in your next combat but you may use abilities. A friend claimed the description at the bottom of a card giving a bonus is an ability. Specifically that Flame Resistant Robo Suit can be discarded to defeat a flame resistant monster but that it is not use the item but using an ability OR simply discarding the card but not the item.

Of course this revolved around her being about to win the game.

This refers to Class or Character abilities.
