Does a combat take place?
 

Does a combat take place if a player were to kick down the door (i.e. a level 2) and it is a high level monster (Lv 19) that they can't defeat and no one is willing to help them out, but the monster won't pursue anyone level 5 or below.

It is my understanding that you must fight/attempt to fight a monster when you have kicked down the door.

But the people I have been playing with think that no combat happened and have been instead looting the room....

I believe that a combat has happened and they are running away when they cant defeat the monster even though it won't pursue them and none of the bad stuff will happen to them.

Because say someone is willing to help in this case (Lv 6) thinking they can win and the player that kicks down the door accepts then other players mess with them making it to difficult for them to defeat the players would still be running away but the Lv 6 would have to roll to avoid the bad stuff while the Lv 2 would get away no problem.
