Adventure Time Munchkin: Why is Flame Princess/Prince so bad?
I just bought Adventure Time Munchkin, and (as a fan of munchkin and adventure time) I'm enjoying it a lot. I like playing as the Flame Prince, but his effect is so bad. It reads something like: "You may choose to have any of your items be treated as fire/flame items. Also, all items which are already fire/flame items get an extra +1 bonus." Fire/flame attacks count as double againts the Ice King. That's the only time when the first effect is useful. There is one equipable flame item: the "flame sword" and I believe only a single "one-shot" item that counts as a fire/flame item. So Flame Princess ability is significantly lacking, compared to the other characters. For example: Lady Rainicorn gets a +1 bonus to her run away, and may choose to take a treasure card instead of a door card when looting the room.
So why is Flame Princess/Prince so bad? Am I reading the effect wrong? Are there other fire/flame items that I somehow missed? If not, does anyone have any good house rules for Flame Prince? |

Moved to the main Munchkin forum.
Preemptive note: If people have house rules for this set, they should be posted in the House Rules thread, not here. |

Thanks for moving the thread. I missunderstood what "Other Munchkin Games" meant.

Re: Adventure Time Munchkin: Why is Flame Princess/Prince so bad?
To be fair, you're comparing the worst character to the best.
Best characters: Lady Rainicorn and Marceline. Worst character: Flame Princess. Everybody else is fairly balanced as far as our games have gone, players just get extra bragging rights if they win with Flame Princess. Also, remember: you can change characters if you die. I've seen a player refuse help in the early game just to change into Rainicorn. |
Re: Adventure Time Munchkin: Why is Flame Princess/Prince so bad?
Adventure time is pretty good, so I suspect that they may do an expansion pack at some point, and maybe fire/flame will prove more useful then.

We have already announced an expansion for 2015, and yes, there will be more fire/flame items and monsters vulnerable to fire/flame. Oh, and Dungeons!
http://tencopper.com/article/2014/08...ed-at-gen-con/ With an ability like Flame Princess', the ground floor may be lower, but the ceiling is higher, so it is all relative. Quote:
