Re: Revising Unarmed Combat Skills

Were I inclined to simply rename the skills, here's probably what I'd go with.

Brawling -> Brawling
Boxing -> Pugilism
Karate -> (Advanced) Striking
Wrestling -> Grappling
Sumo -> (Advanced Grappling:) Shoving
Judo -> (Advanced Grappling:) Throwing

In the list above, bits in parenthesis indicate the full name of the skill, what is outside of parenthesis is what the skill it typically referred to at the table. That is, a character with Karate-18 and Judo-16 would write on his character sheet "Advanced Striking-18" and "Advanced Grappling: Throwing-16," but in-game the GM would call for rolls against Striking and Throwing, respectively.

That is an excellent suggestion. Since this morning I have decided that trying to change it is too much and so I'm going to stick with the names in the RAW.

Oh, you can also probably give a last chance to Soft Martial Arts and Hard Martial Arts. It's cliché and not quite right, but it's pretty evocative.
Still not sure what to do with Sumo - it's way too peculiar.

"Walrus-style kung-fu."
