DF: Armor Layering and Enchantments

In Dungeon Fantasy I know that you can boost your DR by layering armor, wearing cloth armor underneath mail or plate for example, and I know you can boost the DR of your armor with the Fortify enchantment. My question is if you can layer armor and then enchant both layers of armor with the Fortify enchantment separately in order to gain a further DR boost?

Let me clarify what I am not asking, I know that the Fortify enchantment found in DF 1 is for the whole set of armor and you can't just pay that $100 for Fortify 1 for each piece of armor and crank your DR up that way. I'm also not asking about piece by piece armor enchanting either, though that might be a discussion worth having in another thread. I am just looking for clarity on whether layered armor is considered separate when it comes to enchantments.

If you're layering a full set of cloth armor underneath a full set of plate armor, they are separate sets of armor right? So can I enchant the cloth armor with Fortify and the plate armor with Fortify?

If the answer is no you can't Fortify both sets of armor separately, then my next question would be: Do I get the +1 (or whatever level) bonus if I get caught without my plate armor on for whatever reason?

Yes, by RAW they stack, but you have to track penetrations separately.

I've seen nothing to indicate that layering enchanted armour on top of enchanted armour would work any differently than layering non-enchanted armour on top of enchanted armour, or normal armour on top of normal armour, or whatever.

It's not specifically discussed, but that's because GURPS doesn't have "stacking" rules, particularly. Unless something explicitly tells you how to math things, assume everything is working as per grade school.

This does mean also that layering Penetrating Weapon (faces 1/2 DR) on top of a bodkin (faces 1/2 DR) gets you an arrow that only faces 1/4 DR. And so forth.

There are endless jokes about wearing 5 T-Shirts enchanted with Fortify +1 instead of scale.

Which does result in this annoying book-keeping of tracking penetrations by layer, which you normally don't care about in GURPS.

Also I have conceptual problems with Deflect stacking (with itself and with the Shield Spell or shield DB), but that's probably just me.

What if you never bother to track penetrations at all?

Then you don't know when the enchantment fails? You really tick me off, by "accidentally" cheating?

Then it becomes even more efficient, as one of the few balancing factors is the 'destroyed after 5 penetrations' part.

My preferred solution, especially if you're ignoring item durability, is to simply not allow enchantments to stack. If you're wearing a breastplate with Fortify 1 and throw on a tabard enchanted with Fortify 2, you only use the best (DR +2) instead of adding them together. This also neatly solves the problem of layering dozens of enchanted t-shirts.

According to PK in this thread, Kromm answered this as a no as far as stacking goes

Interesting. Maybe this should be UFAQ'd?
