How many cards in hand
 

Hi. I just got into Munchkin and having a blast. Some friends got me hooked. I got the Booty edition. Anywho, my question is How many cards can you have in your hand at one time? When I started playing with my friends they said you can only have up to 5 cards yet nowhere in the rules do I see that ruling. Can you help? Also, they claimed that if you have more than 5 cards you must discard them to the lowest level player unless everyone is the same in that case you just discard normally.

Can you help clarify this for me? Thanks.

What you're looking for is the section on Charity under Turn Phases. The only time hand size matters is at the end of your turn, and what your friends said was correct at that time.
