Yeah. I don't know what's going on at SJG, but the conversion of Caravan to Ein Arris looks like an year long nightmare . . . still running.

Let see:
1)FLGS
2)FLCS
3)FLBS
4)Online Booksellers
5)Mass-Market Bookstores
6)Gifts

1,2 and 3) Any comic book or small bookstore that carries games is an FLGS. If they carry GURPS at all they can order Lite and give it away for free.

4) They can download it from E23.

5) Most Mass-market bookstores don't carry GURPS anymore except by special order. If they won't stock the Basic Set they wouldn't carry your Lite+Adventure+Dice thing anyway.

6)A bunch of stuff you can get for free makes a pretty lame present don't you think?

Am I missing anything?

Not be to totally rude or anything but it seems to me that you just would perfer GURPS NOT to try anything D&D has done when it comes to getting new players or we could dump money into advertising..but thats a topic for another thread IMO

I am unaware of a single D&D product that consists of an SRD + a sample Adventure that's available as a free download+some D6's. Such a product would be a ripoff. How is GURPS Lite + Caravan to Ein Arris (for instance) + some D6's anyless of a ripoff. I am not opposed to such a thing existing (although I wouldn't bother with the dice), I am just opposed to the idea of charging for it.

SJ Games does advertise, however Hasbro advertises more. This is because Hasbro is a giant multinational corporation, whereas SJ Games is comparitively teeny-tiny.

There was one a year ago that had a booklet with a ready to run adventrue with the 30th anniversy dice bag the characters were the ionic characters and as you wen along instead of marking number you just filled in bubbles for damage and it was very simple and easy to run and by charging for you you also toss some cash to SJG..i wish i knew where that booklet was.

Collectable swag + weird polyhedrals =! some generic D6's. Sure, if SJ Games sold some cool eye-in-the-pyramid D6's or some such they could bundle it with freebies (the Munchkin dice rules are available online for instance) but then the customer is paying for the dice not the free stuff.

that wasn't the point thats what i have left from the stuff...the point is that that the dic and adventure brought me into RPGS and i feel that it could bring more ppl into GURPS

If you paid cash money for it, and then found out it contained nothing you didn't already own or could get for free, would you have felt ripped off? Once again I'm not against such a product, I'm against charging money for free merchandise.
