Does Stop Thrust really stop?

Does a Stop Thrust (B366) stop the movement of an advancing enemy? I dont find anything related to this question in the rules.

The name is probably based on the fencing term ... it may not literally stop your opponent in mid air, but it's certainly prone to interfere in whatever he's trying to do...

Hmmm. What does RAW say as far as interrupting movement with injury?

If you do enough damage to invoke Knockdown and Stunning, that should do the trick. Otherwise I don't think it interferes with movement one bit.

That's correct, although see Holding A Foe At Bay (GURPS Martial Arts, p. 106) for ways to leave an impaling weapon inside someone to keep them from advancing . . . unless they're willing and able to impale themselves. Or back off and move back in.

A Stop Thrust is good for doing this, but it's not automatic.

Only peripherally related - aren't there rules for also stabbing all the way through someone without them moving into the blow? Just by your own strength? I'm guessing they'd be similar in terms of bypassing a certain amount of HP and then the back armor DR...

Overpenetration, on p. B408. It doesn't limit the injury you take, but it limits the damage you stop from getting through to people or things behind you. Basically you count as cover with HP equal to yours, plus your front and back armor.

Knockback might also do the job. A fencing stop thrust certainly will not stop a charging human, the sword will bend or break first.

People here have it right – and I'd urge a reading of Dealing with Charging Foes (GURPS Martial Arts, p. 106). "Stop thrust" is simply an old fencing term . . . the name comes not from checking the foe's advance but from checking his attack. A stop thrust truly stops the foe only if the injury kills him, renders him unconscious, or leads to knockdown and stun; it slows him down only if it causes knockback, was aimed at and cripples a leg or a foot, or reduces him below 1/3 of his total HP. The rules in Martial Arts present an additional option wherein a successful stop thrust may impose movement limitations even if the injury isn't especially severe.

How much thrust could a Stop Thrust stop if a Stop Thrust could stop thrust?
