Re: (IC) Lost In Dreams [Peter]

'Why am I not surprised?' Peter thinks to himself as the visions show him Ink Thur is somehow worsening the banestorms for his own purposes. He notes what he can of the group.

He had considered name dropping Ink Thur's cover identity in the hopes the Chaplaincy would recognize it as a noble of some kind and leave them alone, but it is likely that would have been a bad way to go if they are in direct conflict...

Peter does not speak of his dreams upon waking... He will get these folks to their contacts and then figure out what to do next.

They continue across the backwoods that night, trying their best not to get turned around. They see quite a lot of sheep: a lot of this country is set aside for grazing rather than farming. The shepherds are fairly well armed, all things considered.

There is a deal of discussion about how long they want to move at night. Leon says it makes them look suspicious and they should start moving during the day once they're a few days away. Rajat is worried that they've missed something and they'll get that sort of attention again and again.

Peter is all for a long march into the day after their rest, to reset to the proper cycle. Do they know how far it is to Tredroy?

Using the standard Yrth map, its 900 miles. Which is WAY too big. that's the distance from Atlanta to NYC. I've heard people complain about scale in Yrth before, but I've never really noticed just how silly it is in terms of travel distances before.

So I think I'll be using half distances, which are still pretty impressive. you've got 450 miles to travel: the equivalent of crossing France. That said, the group can cover 40 miles a day on the road or 20 miles a day off of it, so you should be in Tederoy within two weeks.

They follow Peter's suggestion of daytime hiking on the road for a while the next day. It makes them all very tired. They sleep in the woods again, making camp in the early afternoon.

When Peter is sleeping, he dreams of Ink Thur. Or more properly, Ink Thur is in his dreams.

Ink-Thur: "I wasn't sure this would work, but you're close enough to being one of my priests that it does. Maybe. Are you still on Draco? I assume that since this is working that you are. I hope you're adapting well to this place."

"I'm curious what you're doing? Perhaps I could help. I have a great number of resources in this country."

I'm not sure how, but I somehow got it in my head this was a much shorter journey and Peter could shoot back and check on the Vutu... oops.

Peter will try and do so, in his dreams...

"Hello, Incarius. I'm still here."

"Remember the group I was with when we met? I'm helping them. The one night we tried to stay in a village, a bunch of jerks from a group called the Chaplaincy of St. Andrew showed up and wanted to read our minds... but we weren't having that, so we escaped. We've been laying low since then. We have a long way to go, so I could use a four seater flying carpet if you've got one to loan me."

"Once I get them safely where they're going, I may head back to check on the Vutu and see if they're okay. Have you kept track of them at all?"

"How's your Banestorm research going?"

"Who are those people you're traveling with anyways? We found their conveyance but the technology in it makes no sense, even to myself, a god of technology. But my world works differently. What ever it is, they left it in a hurry. And left their guns too. So they know enough to leave their guns, but not enough to not bring them in the first place. Or did you tell them about the guns?"

"I have little lost love with the chaplaincy, but they're not the all knowing agents that legend makes them out to be. Did you end up keeping a gun anyways? or maybe even just a bullet or too? they over-rely on that detect gunpowder spell."

"A flying carpet? That's... are you joking or serious? What's so urgent? Its possible that I could borrow one for you... but I would need to know what it was for."

"We got a lot of data*, and we're still dealing with the consequences. The Vutu have proven to be a lot of touble. They don't accept new laws, and they don't accept authority that can't look them in the eye, and they have no idea how to live on a planet. I'm trying to keep them alive, at least some of them, long enough to see if we can get that vessel of theirs back out of the ocean. We've had to execute several of them for murder. The Chaplaincy of St. Andrew took a couple back to Tedroy for questioning. They're fascinating people. They manipulate life-force itself. Which means they're obsessed with stealing it from everything around them."

*Yes, a God from the broken world visiting Yrth just used "data". That's unusual in either context. The vision also seems to be in english. Its very vivid, Ink-Thur conjured both an image of the conveyor and diagrams of it at one point.

"You seem to have figured most of it out for yourself. They are a group of world hoppers who's tech needs extra help to leave this world. They knew enough about this place to ditch their guns. I didn't have anything to do with it. I don't think they kept any tech, but I'll double check. Thanks for the tip."

"I was mostly joking, but my new friends have contacts in Tedroy and it's almost 500 miles away. So it looks like that's what I'm doing for the next few weeks. I want to make more contacts in their organization."

"Manipulating life force? Sounds dangerous! Sounds like my encounters with them were pretty lucky. I hope they can adapt."

"A world-spanning organization with friends on this world? Whose location they know? They haven't found a way off, have they?"

"I can't say... They have gotten some information somehow, but they seem to have only patchy knowledge and are quite secretive. "

"Keep your ears open then. I am also in need of a way off this world, once I slay our quarry"
