Peter focuses on the basics and reinforcement of directions. He's mostly interested in keeping Goliath sharp, happy, and well-exercised.

Then extends his arm in a gesture to the priest. "Who are you and what do you want?"

The priest seems disappointed, but plays along.

"I am Lyn-dar, Priest of Yu-Pelor. I want to improve relations between Pelora* and Thuroma. I think you can help, and I think we can help you"
*name of the city Yu-Pelor is associated with.

"Improving relations sounds good. And how do you propose we help each other?"



Peter considers how to leverage the situation to help people here without preying on their interdimensional neighbors. The people need food and help with infrastructure... Thuroma has some unique tech and magic-ey stuff, that even if it doesn't translate well, people on "Earths" would be willing to pay plenty in food and resources to have the chance to come to study it. So they can trade research & tourism for support and maybe a few upgrades for their forges... He may need to be Emissary to the Earths as well as their gods.

Yes, its the name of the city, named after last part of their God Ink-Thur.


"We need you to push to elevate the status of Kyridas. We want him officially appointed as priestly ambassador to other cities. He is our favored man for the job, and you and him have recently had a great triumph! If we push together, we can establish a dedicated organization communicating with the divine, so that Irodian* can focus on Ink-Thur's preisthood as a whole"
*the current high priest, Kyridas's boss.

"Push how? You have my attention. If I'm going to be bringing back the word of your gods, it's best the people I tell it to are in a position to get things done!"

Peter was waiting for Kyridas to return with a confirmation of the basic terms so that the situation was established. The then wanted to discuss presenting the ideas to the powers that be with Kyridas, since he is the one who understands the political system.

But rather than all that let's say he wrote it all into a letter and gave it to one of the guardians to get to Kyridas in the hopes he can work some of it into the discussion now and he did it as yesterday as possible ;) He will ask the guy watching if Kyridas will be able to read or translate English, and if not he'll get him to write the letter if the magic giving Peter the language doesn't let him write it himself.

Kyridas can read English. The letter is sent.


Kyridas comes back late at night with a smile on his face: "There is a lot more to work out, but I think we will get what we want... we just need to work out the details. Two more days, I think. Good night!"

Peter discusses the visit he had in Kyridas' absence....

"He's not wrong... And I don't want just any priest hitting me up, they should have to get through you or we should come up with a process so I'm not going back with bunches of random distractions from what's important."

Peter is interested in learning more about their magic in his downtime. He also works on his own and tries making karana-smoke-conjured clothing and seeing how long he can make it last.

Peter looks into the local magic... and is steadfastly told that it is gifts from the Gods, not magic. They used to have a lot more, but it stopped working when the world broke. People like Kyridas are the exception... and one of the reasons the priesthoods have not been dismantled. Instructions on Kyridas's gift are limited to the words to say*, which incense to burn** and the pattern to wave the burning incense in. There are a few other gifts known, including the ability to open and close gates, and to heal.



* A prayer invoking all the gods at once and the connection between the worlds, An invokation of Arn-Oda, dead sky god and king of the gods, and a series of chanted holy words that have meaning, but its obscured by confusing theology.

Making Karana Smoke goes about as well as expected... the clothing stays for a while, then dissipates.



I think its time to explain the stats I'm using for Karana:

• Peter has 10 ER for Karana... possibly less if he's using other magic (this is part of the unusual background 'can use any magic')
• Any amount of ER can be sunk into the creature, but a 20lb creation requires at least 2
• Each ER powers 5 minutes of the creature's existence
• If you have no ER, you can make them at -4 to skill.
• When damaged they loose 1 ER per minute per point of damage... they're homogeneous, of course, and I reserve the right to give them additional defenses against very small holes.
• There is one skill to shape and form the smoke at all, and other for phsysiology/structure, as already explained.

Peter will experiment and see if he can access any of their invocations without being "ordained".

((Can the 0 energy variant be manipulated to try and make more lasting things? This is in pursuit of being able to use Karana to create persistent, no-maintenance clothing.))

Yinkali is a small petite woman. She looks Peter up and down, jotts down a few notes, and says: "We'll take good care of your time, Emmissary"


Who will he use as the "target"? The instructions are for applying it to someone else...


The 0-energy variant has a nominal 1 ER in it.



persistent clothing... He may be able to experiment with making innanimate objects last longer than 5 per ER... nothing Karana will last forever (without some caveats Peter isn't aware of) but he may be able to get something that would last a lot longer than an hour.
