Question about squidzilla and pukachu
 

Hey guys, Jp here.
I'm new to the forums, and am somewhat new to munchkin.

My first question is: for defeating a pukachu without help or bonuses, you gain an extra level. Does a warriors ability to discard cards to gain up to 3 combat levels count as help or bonus?

My second question:on the squidzilla's card, it says elves are at -4. Does this mean that the elves combat is exactly -4, or that the elves loses 4 combat levels?

I believe Pukachu's card reads, 'Gain an extra Level if you defeat it without using help or bonuses.'
The Warrior's card reads, under Beserking, 'You may discard up to 3 cards in combat; each one gives you a +1 bonus.'

That sounds pretty clear to me. Warriors still win on a tie, but I would say you'd be fighting with your level only.

The latter:

So, if your effective combat level is 21, and you were an Elf, you'd now be losing by 1 against Squidzilla.
