[DF] "Racial" gear and Signature Gear
Certain races (e.g. dwarves, elves) get a 10% discount when purchasing gear made be their race. Since the price of Signature Gear is based on price, does this discount extend to that?

I suppose so, but isn't SG already overpowered enough?

Also doesn't that only apply to special items with the Elven or Dwarven modifier, not just standard equipment that happened to be made by a given race. So that a ordinary axe that happened to be made by a Dwarf is still just an axe but if its a specially made axe that receives the Dwarven bonuses then it qualifies under the racial gear perk.

I agree with Ciaran. As a GM, I would rule that the discount applies to a piece of signature gear, but only if that piece of signature gear has the appropriate price modifier applied to it (Dwarven for a dwarf's discount for example.) |
Re: [DF] "Racial" gear and Signature Gear
Consider though that the discount applies to the full price of the item, so for a dwarf, a Very Fine Balanced Tempered Glass Dwarven axe might be cheaper than the same axe without the Dwarven modifier. Of course, this requires a lot of added CF, so it's certainly not easily attainable via signature gear, but it's something to consider. Also, Dwarven also applies to items with Dwarven in the name, such as Dwarven Rations.
Elven gear is much less of a good deal though, as not only is the CF higher, it also applies to less gear, and it's gear that is usually more expensive and takes less high CF modifiers. Neither is problematic IME, and both seem to fade in the background after a delve or 3. |

The whole Signature Gear mechanic is badly thought out, though. It's one of those things that got rushed late in the development phase of 4th Edition, and no one has seen fit to issue an official improved update. |
