Marvelous Magenta Moat and Item Enhancers

Can you add an item enhancer to the item protected by the moat? Wouldn't the enhancer block the top of the moat and make the item no longer surrounded on four sides?

Thanks for answering your own question -- it saves us a lot of time!

(Your instincts are correct -- the Item Enhancer must be visible, which means you can't play it on a card that's Moated.)
