Ruling needed please

The gf and I were playing Munchkin last night and ran into a snag at the close of our game to where we weren't sure how to proceed. We are playing with mixed original Munchkin and Super Munchkin decks. My gf was level 9, strength 19, and it was her turn. She drew her door card, didn't find anything of use, so she played her level 14 monster. To keep her from winning the game, I played my Wandering Monster card and another level 14 enemy I had. So as I understand it, she loses the fight immediately since she cannot beat the combined levels of the two monsters (28) since she had 19 strength. But, she then played a Magic Lamp card. Here is where we ran into our problem. Does the Magic Lamp card remove one of the two level 14 monsters before losing the fight? In other words, negating the Wandering Monster card entirely to be able to go on and defeat the other single level 14 monster? Or does it help her in her attempt to escape from one monster instead of two since she loses automatically when facing both monsters?

She is allowed to continue playing cards to try to win the fight after you add the monster; there's no "automatic loss." Magic Lamp would remove one monster, and if she can kill the other, she wins the game.

Many thanks for the reply. However, I still had another Wandering Monster card and another level 14 monster to play even if my gf played her Magic Lamp card. We went ahead with the game thinking that she had to escape from only one monster instead of two, but I still ended up winning on my next turn. I appreciate the ruling!

Just to clarify: Automatic defeat of the munchkin side is possible, but only with a card that actually says combat is ended immediately.

Also, since we're trying to make sure that we explain where rulings come from, the rules imply that combat is a give and take, not an immediate and final assessment, even if the munchkin side is losing (we know that the munchkin side is supposed to give the other players a chance to stop them if winning, as per the rules). Otherwise, the ability to play one-shot Items or use special abilities (like discarding cards to effect a Class- or Race-based bonus ability, such as the Warrior's berserking) would be meaningless.
