Pricing Leveled Traits with Limitations

How do you apply the limitation in the following case (this is just an example - and kind of a lazy one, but I think it'll do):

Acute Vision 50 (Whatever, -80%)

Is this worth [50] (the -80% applied individually to each level of Acute Vision (which is worth [2], reducing the cost to the minimum of [1]), or is it worth [20] (the -80% applied to the total [100] that the unmodified Acute Vision 50 would be worth)?

Re: Pricing Leveled Traits with Limitations

Limitations and enhancements are calculated off the total cost of all levels, otherwise limitations would do virtually nothing to leveled traits.

The latter. Applying the limitation individually to the levels is gratuitous complexity.

Thanks. I thought so, just making sure.

Re: Pricing Leveled Traits with Limitations

You apply modifier as a block to all the levels they apply to not level by level.

However note you can do:
Code:

Magery 1 [15] + Magery 2 (One Collage only, -40%) [12]
So that you get Magery 3 in one collage , but 1 in all others. But it is still bought in blocks totals of all the levels it applies to.

Yes. Also, the final point cost needs to be the same, regardless of whether the player bought the trait one level at a time, or bought it all at once.

It is RAW-legal to buy levels with varying Limitations, such as 1 level of DR with no Limitations, 1 level of DR with a small Limitation, and 2 more levels of DR with a couple of larger Limitations. While I know that that's legal, I'm not actually sure about how you're supposed to calculate the cost of such a construction.

Personally, I'd only round things up at the very end of the process. For example, you've got DR 1 [5] plus DR 1 (-15%) [4.25] plus DR 2 (-35%) [6.5], for a total of [15.75], rounded up to [16]. I'm not certain if that's strictly RAW however.

That would be my preference as well.

It's not usually a problem for DR, because most Limitations and Enhancements are in convenient 20% units, but it can very well be relevant for other levelled advantages.

it is indeed relevant on such most commonly Innate Attack, where it has be ruled, that rounding is the very last step
