Crippled leg and lying down, combat

If someone has a crippled leg and is lying down does he attacks with -3 (from the crippled leg, B141) and -4 (for his posture, B547) for a total of -7, or only the -4 from the Lying Down posture?

I have the feeling if you are lying down and doing a melee attack it doesn't really matter if your leg is crippled or not (apart from, say, a kick).

I focus on these two modifiers: posture and crippled limb. Don't consider the other injury related modifiers (like shock).

I would probably say that you just take the -4 from posture. If you're not using your crippled leg, there shouldn't really be any penalties for it.

I would tend to agree with that, but reading the other variants of the Lame disadvantage makes it a little less clear. A Legless character can never stand, and suffers -6 to all actions that would use the legs. Perhaps in that case the -6 replaces the -4 for posture. In other words, only use the worst of the penalties rather than combining them.

Lying down doesn't use the legs, so he's at -4 for posture, a -6 for no legs or a -3 for one leg does not apply.

These modifiers do not stack. The -3 is for supporting yourself on a wobbly leg; the -4 is for not bothering to support yourself on a wobbly leg, and fighting from the ground instead.

How about the -6 from legless?

I suspect it's from not having the option to brace against the ground at all. A sort of stability penalty.

So, we're saying the -4 penalty for being prone (less if the character has trained the Ground Fighting technique) replaces the normal -6 for Missing Legs, but if you have Legless you suffer the full -6 even while prone? Makes sense to me. Would a Legless character be able to remove some of his penalty for a specific skill with an equivalent technique?

I'd say only if he stay still with something else to help(like ropes holding him).
