Any way to escape after you rolled a die unsuccessfully?

Hi there. I have two scenarios related to escape after you rolled a dice:

1. I carry the Rat on a Stick. I try to run away from a monster rolling a dice. No success. Can I use now the Rat card for automatic escape?

2. I'm cursed with Chicken on My Head (-1 to run away). I hold a Wishing Ring card. I try to run away from a monster. My dice roll result is 5 meaning I fail to escape. Can I use the Wishing Ring now to get rid of the Chicken and consider my roll as successful?

Or, after my roll I'm not allowed to do anything else and bad stuff applies?

No you can't. Automatic escape methods must be used before rolling unless they state otherwise.

No. You can't play any cards between a die roll and applying the results of that roll unless a card states otherwise.

Some cards say they can be played within this timeframe. Magic Lamp would be one such card.

The Wishing Ring card says it can be used AT ANY TIME... So?

The effect of the Curse on the die roll is instantaneous. You can lift the Curse with the Wishing Ring, but its effect has already happened and cannot be undone.
