Big Item Question
Hello,
How many Big Item cards can you "use"? I've read you can only "carry" one (unless you're a dwarf) but does that mean you can have one Big Item sideways, but be using multiple others? Example: I'm using the "Swiss Army Polearm" and "Mithril Armor", both big items, is this legal? |
Re: Big Item Question
As long as you can legally Carry them you can Use as many Big Items that you wish.

Re: Big Item Question
To my knowledge that is only legal as you said if you are a Dwarf or if you have a card that overrules the 1 Big item only rule, like for example a "Cheat" card...
You can have any number of Big Items on the table, that you are carrying but you can only use one of those if you don't have any card in use that specifically overrules the only 1 Big item in use... Imagine you have 3 Big Item cards and you aren't a dwarf nor have any other card that allows you to use more than 1 Big item, you choose the one card you want to be using in combat and the other 2 cards you can put in the table but turned sideways... Then you can wait until you can use them, either by having a curse or bad stuff that causes you to lose the big item in use, or you could trade those cards with another player, or you could sell the cards to gain levels... if I'm wrong I will be corrected by more experienced users :) |

Re: Big Item Question
I am glad this came up. I just joined the forum to get some clarification on a card/rule.
I was playing Munchkin Zombies with zombies 2, The "strong" zombie power came up. the card reads: "you may ignore all restrictions on one Big item (including its Bigness) as though it had a Cheat! card on it. You can change this "free" Big item at any time except during combat." so the argument happened- the player had two one handed items and some armour that was big. the player claimed that since the word Cheat! was on the "strong" card, she could use this new Big-One-handed weapon in a non-exsistant third arm. My argument was: -the "(including its Bigness)" is the humor part -the "Cheat!" part is only a word to let you use the one extra big item. -You need a third arm for a third weapon then the argument went like this- its a Cheat, you dont have a third hand, its a cheat, no, its a cheat, no, well in d&D... this is munchkin! fine... {followed by more whining} :) what do you say fellow munchkins? |
Re: Big Item Question
In my opinion she can't use that Item, it only overrules the 1 BIG Item rule allowing her to have 2 Big Items in play... it doesn't work as a normal "Cheat" card that overrules all restrictions for a card... this card doesn't give one extra hand to the munchkin (as other cards do), so you are right and she's wrong :)

Re: Big Item Question
Actually, Strong says you can ignore all restrictions on the card as if it were cheated. The 1-hand is such a restriction, so it could be ignored.

Re: Big Item Question
I agree with Brf. The card Cheat! is able to ignore all restrictions on the Items, with the required Hands being one such restriction. This power works like Cheat! (except that it only works on a Big Item and you can change the Item), so it can allow you to ignore both the Bigness and the Handedness of a single Item at the same time.
Your friend was right, Asltjep. Official rulings on Cheat! that show how it works can be found here for confirmation. |
Re: Big Item Question
Thanks for that link Clipper. I always try to see both sides of the situation.
And in this case I was truly divided, until she started whining :) But as you say and the way it is written, I do see the "restriction" of the hands being ignored. |
