GURPS Websites: Blogs, Wikis, Feeds . . .

This thread is for websites related to GURPS. Whether it's blogs, wikis, pages devoted to a specific campaign, or anything in between - post them in this thread and I'll match them up in the headers of this post.

Blogs/LiveJournals/Twitter
  • The Blind Mapmaker (by Blind Mapmaker): Various GURPSian content
  • Chandley's Stuff/Gurps (by chandley): has a collection of Animal templates, Dungeon Fantasy Races, and misc Transhuman Space stuff. Some have found it useful.
  • Dice and Discourse - (by JMason) A gaming blog covering my GURPS campaign, thoughts on GMing, the TTRPG industry, and gaming in general.
  • Dungeon Fantastic (by Peter V. Dell'Orto): My blog is almost entirely GURPS Dungeon Fantasy focused. I started it back in 2011. There are occasional off-topic forays into post-apocalypse, D&D, and gaming art. Lots of minis stuff, too, but it's on topic for my own games.
  • Gaming Ballistic (by DouglasCole): The blog has been running since December of 2012, and has about 50-60% GURPS content, a lot of it serious crunch. Common themes are wounding, damage, and fight pacing. I also host a monthly 'how to fight in GURPS' article collection called Melee Academy. I will occasionally write about Pathfinder (I'm doing a Core Rulebook read-through for novices like myself), as well as general inspiration from entertainment.
  • Game Geekery Blog (by mook): is "Musings on GURPS, the RPG hobby, and assorted Geekery."
  • Kromm's LiveJournal (by Kromm): There are two main channels relevant to GURPS:
    1. The brief, bulleted leaks I hand out every Friday evening, under the tag gurps.
    2. The rather wordy session summaries I post on weekends after I run my modern-day secret-agents campaign (weekly in winter, fading back to every two or three weeks in summer), under the tag the company.
  • Islands of War (by simulatoralive) Islands of War is a GURPS fantasy campaign setting involving a mixture of intrigue, politics and war, with a group of adventurers (the PCs) caught in the middle, due to bad/good luck (a matter of perspective on that one) and prophecy.
  • The Lonewolf's Den (by LoneWolf23k) I just started updating my livejournal again, with the intent of using it to detail this Furry Dungeon Fantasy setting I'm working on.
  • No School Grognard (by mlangsdorf): I started this blog in the spring of 2013 and update it several times a month, trying for at least a weekly update. It covers Actual Play reports of games I'm involved in, painting tips and experiences for Reaper Bones figures, house rules and gameplay suggestions for GURPS Dungeon Fantasy, and a bunch of miscellania on role-playing games. About 2/3rds the content is GURPS Dungeon Fantasy related, I'd guess.
  • Nothing Gained (by Paul Stefko): I try to update every day, but only some entries are GURPS-related. (See the GURPS category for those entries.) My primary GURPS focus so far has been campaign prep, but I also post session recaps and general theory.
  • One Yard Hex (by ham2anv): A blog where I post the random gaming ideas, snippets, and rules that have accumulated on my hard drive over the years. Right now, it's pure GURPS, but I may put other stuff up as I dig it out.
  • Psuedoboo (by pseudonym): Has a lot of "thinking out loud" entries.
  • PK's Twitter Account (by PK): Is where I post occasional leaks, snippets, and tidbits. I also use it as a general micro-blog, however, so those bits are sprinkled among random thoughts, personal photos, witticisms, and so on. At the moment, GURPS leaks are a bit sparse due to the slushy queue, but when we're moving at normal capacity, I'd say gaming stuff makes up about 15-20% of my "tweets."
  • RPGSnob (by JP42): It's not entirely GURPS-specific, but I do spent a good deal of my time on GURPS-related stuff there.
  • Science Gamer (by Anthony): Random math/science and gaming related topics.
  • Shooting Dice (by Hans): is about "Guns and Gaming," mostly, but also about related topics.
  • Stuff in the Attic (by robertsconley): While I publish for classic editions of D&D most of my gaming is done with GURPS. I have released a bunch of useful GURPS files and on my Bat in the Attic blog. Finally collected them onto a page for easy access.
  • The Beggar's Crown (by tjbuege): A blog I recently started. It will mostly be a journal of my experience GMing a GURPS Fantasy campaign for the first time. The majority of posts will be session reports, with occasional rules questions (and answers) that arise during play, or design issues encountered while creating the campaign world.
  • thecheeseshop (by inflatus): thecheeseshop covers RPG topics and most are GURPS specific.
  • The Red Mouser (by Gotha) A blog on primarily focussed on GURPS, Science Fiction and Fantasy.

GURPS Campaign Specific Websites/Wikis
  • The Daniverse Game Blog (by Gigermann): A regular record of my ongoing campaign(s); currently on-deck: After the End (zombiepocalypse, with "normal folks" PCs).
  • Edgerunners (by Langy and Cernig): A GURPS cyberpunk campaign on Obsidian Portal. It includes a lot of stuff, from a number of house rules to AI templates to the very detailed, almost transcript-like (OK, created from actual transcripts) campaign adventure logs. Edgerunners won Campaign of the Month on OP back in October 2012, so apparently we're doing something right.
  • GURPS Ultima (by Archazz): A regular record of my ongoing campaign(s); currently on-deck: After the End (zombiepocalypse, with "normal folks" PCs).

General GURPS Websites/Wikis
  • GURPS Grayhame (by JazzJedi): Various pages on houserules and info on Star Wars conversion.

  • MyGURPS (by PK): Is a resource site for GURPS Fourth Edition that offers suggested house rules, write-ups, FAQs, articles, and GCA support. • palimpsestgt (by lonficke): My GURPS website, has a campaign editor, a character editor and a character database.
  • T Bone's Games Diner (by T Bone): A long-running RPG blog focused on GURPS hacking and homebrew game design. Some items of broad interest: The GURPS Diner, experimental hacks, reader-contributed content, and Games Diner goodies on e23. Plus lots more; explore via search or copious topic tags. To keep up with new additions (which are... lovingly slow-cooked, let's say), watch this forum thread, the RSS feed, or this Twitter feed. Or just drop by and say HI once in a while.
  • The GURPS Character Archive (by Stoob and others) free to post and share, search and sort by TL, genre and more.
  • TzeentchNet (by Tzeentch): Mostly for GURPS, Third Edition, as I now just polish up interesting articles for Pyramid. But there are what amounts to full supplements for Vehicles Lite on my site, as well as a ton of material for Transhuman Space.

Re: GURPS Blogs, Wikis, and Feeds

Gaming Ballistic

I started the blog the day after Christmas in 2012, and since then, I have perhaps made 150 posts. About 80-85 of them are GURPS-related in some way.

Another 30 or so have to do with Pathfinder.

The rest is a bit of a hodge-podge.

The top 10 most read articles to date have been:
  • Apropos of Nothing: Independence Day (movie) and RPG Inspiration
  • GURPS Campaigns: Common Pitfalls
  • Skill Levels for Melee Combat in GURPS
  • Skill Levels for Ranged Combat in GURPS
  • Pathfinder Readthrough - Chapter 7: Additional Rules
  • Melee Academy: High skill vs. armor and shield
  • The Price of Fitness
  • Shrug It Off
  • A Sandbox is Born over at RPG Snob
  • Making grapples suck less in armed combat

Finally, every month, Peter Dell'Orto, Jason Packer, and occasionally Mark Langsdorf and Christian Blouin (and coming this month, Christopher Rice) collaborate on a feature that we call Melee Academy, a bit of "combat how-to" for GURPS.

You can find the Melee Academy collection here.

Editing for my official format:

Gaming Ballistic (by DouglasCole): The blog has been running since December of 2012, and has about 50-60% GURPS content, a lot of it serious crunch. Common themes are wounding, damage, and fight pacing. I also host a monthly 'how to fight in GURPS' article collection called Melee Academy. Re: GURPS Blogs, Wikis, and Feeds

Setting aside whether LiveJournal is "really" a blog site . . . I consider my LJ to be a blog. There are two main channels relevant to GURPS:
  • The brief, bulleted leaks I hand out every Friday evening, under the tag gurps.
  • The rather wordy session summaries I post on weekends after I run my modern-day secret-agents campaign (weekly in winter, fading back to every two or three weeks in summer), under the tag the company.
Since I occasionally post personal stuff there (though I've mostly moved such things to Facebook), it's important to note the tags if you don't want to be bored. :)

The GURPS Repository, a wiki dedicated to collecting all sorts of GURPS stuff. It is especially noteworthy for its Monster collection (288 monsters so far) and its D&D Conversion.

Probably best-known in this forum thanks to the D&D Conversion thread.

No School Grognard

I started this blog in the spring of 2013 and update it several times a month, trying for at least a weekly update.

My blog is almost entirely GURPS Dungeon Fantasy focused:

Dungeon Fantastic

I started it back in 2011.

There are occasional off-topic forays into post-apocalypse, D&D, and gaming art. Lots of minis stuff, too, but it's on topic for my own games.

The Beggar's Crown is a blog I recently started. It will mostly be a journal of my experience GMing a GURPS Fantasy campaign for the first time. The majority of posts will be session reports, with occasional rules questions (and answers) that arise during play, or design issues encountered while creating the campaign world.

This is my first blog ever, so don't expect to find anything too polished and shiney. While I'm happy to share my GURPS experiences with others, I'm also doing this for my own benefit. I find that reviewing a session and writing it all down helps me focus on what needs improving. If during the process I accidentally write something interesting, all the better!

Websites devote to campaigns, Play-By-Web pages, and so on DEFINITELY count. Post 'em if you got 'em.

Might I suggest that you edit your first post, much like the e23 releases thread?

We could even have some categories, though that could be some discussion as to what ("General Gaming," "GURPS-focused," "Campaign Blog (SYSTEM)" for examples).

Or just ask for a blog URL and a ten-word-or-less descriptor, and put all the blogs in one lead post (including your own, of course!)

That way we really do have a one-stop shop.

Right now my posting rate is sketchy (move across country at the end of August has us on regular packing duty) but will resume shortly. Hoping to have something for Melee Thursday, but not sure I'll make it.

Everyone should have something for Melee Academy/Melee Thursday!

Serously: this Thursday's topic is "Ranged Combat." Which is, as you might suspect, odd for a "Melee Academy." But hey, sometimes you have to provide smackdown from a distance.

The Melee Academy series is something that cropped up and we usually post links on various Google Communities. But of course, after that, I collect all the links and put them on the page above.

It's good reading.

I put a fair bit of stuff on my personal page at ottgaming, especially notes for games in progress (or formerly in progress) and adventure design. The material is a bit disjoint, but it can plumbed for ideas.

Mook's write-up of his one-shot GURPS: Jem & the Holograms game is my go-to link to share with people who wonder why you might want a generic, universal system. It is an archetypal example of what you can do when the fetters come off.

That is a fantastic idea. I can't get to it currently. Should have it fixed in a few days. Till now. Please post away your GURPS-related sites guys. :-)

  • PK's Twitter account is where I post occasional leaks, snippets, and tidbits.

If one of the mods could insert another couple of posts for me to expand on that would be great. :-)

I'll just leave this here for now.

If you could please format your posts in the following manner, I'd be grateful:
  • Ravens N' Pennies (by Ghostdancer): A general blog for both my gaming and non-gaming interests. GURPS posts are tagged as such. Also includes game session recaps for my various campaigns and two reoccurring post themes: Triple Threat (statistics for various foes with write-ups for Monster Hunters, Dungeon Fantasy, and "generic" campaigns) and Gamemaster's Guidepost (various musings and advice on what it means to be a GURPS GM.

I think it should be 'blogspot' not 'blogger' in the url:

which is the link on his forum profile!

At the moment, my textpattern web site is a combo of Traveller, GURPS Traveller, and some ideas I'm working on for Empires in Traveller.

My Sectors, map on the site, is on the opposite side of the Milky way Galaxy from the rest of the GURPS Traveller/Traveller sectors and empires. That way it is all brand new, and hopefully someone else hasn't had that '180 degree around the corner' idea.

Here is the info:

Re: GURPS Websites: Blogs, Wikis, Feeds . . .

    1. My gaming blog has become part of the same website.
    2. I've written a number of adventures for the setting, some of which can be used in other fantasy settings with little work.
    3. I built my own magic system using a spells-as-powers approach for this setting.

Those that have visited my site before should note that these URLs are new. Islands of War recently moved and the new site is much more up to date, including both new material and updates to old material.

I also updated the links in my signature, but it looks exactly the same.

You could add your own Blog to the main Blogs/LiveJournals/Twitter section, rather than just having the link hidden away in your Signature at the bottom of the post!

Here are a few GURPS-centric web-pages from my past and present:
  • GURPS StarCraft Wiki (by Brother Lex): Template, traits, gear, vehicles, and an introductory scenario for Terran Space Marines, psionic Protoss Warriors, and swarming carnivorous Zerg from Blizzard Entertainment's sci-fi RTS video game. Relies heavily upon Ultra-Tech, and uses rules and material from Spaceships and Mass Combat.
  • GURPS FR: Splendors & Shadows (by Brother Lex): A Forgotten Realms plug-in for Dungeon Fantasy, focusing on campaigns based in the fabled fantasy metropolis of Waterdeep (and the legendary dungeons of Undermountain beneath), but also including templates, lenses, martial-arts styles, etc, for the Realms more generally.
  • GURPS FR: Empire of Ashes (by Brother Lex): A dark "alternate-universe" frame for Dungeon Fantasy, pitting over-the-top (500-point) DF heroes against an Evil Empire of otherworldly sorcerers who have invaded and conquered the Realms.

I'm trying to get one of my ideas up at GURPS Fall. So far I am just getting the hang of the wiki as well as trying to get my notes in an order that will make sense to people besides myself.

It's a post apocalyptic setting. It's sort of a middle ground between realistic and gonz

Re: GURPS Websites: Blogs, Wikis, Feeds . . .

Not sure why I haven't posted my blog here yet, so here it is.

Dark Paths and Wandered Roads (by Jason Woollard) Dark Paths and Wandered Roads is a GURPS campaigns blogspot. It tracks the progress of the 4 different campaigns I GM:
1) Dark Paths of Riddleport - Following the adventures of a crew of heroes and rogues, from the streets of the pirate city of Riddleport to the ancient Elven forests of Mireani. This is a Pathfinder Adventure Path to GURPS conversion. We play (supposedly) every other week online using Roll20 and supplement with play by post style between sessions.

2) Wandered Roads of Varisia - This campaign follows a band of heroes from a small town as they investigate mysteries, murders and ancient ruins. This is also a Pathfinder AP to GURPS conversion. We play face to face monthly or thereabouts with some play by post in-between sessions to keep the campaign fresh.

3) GURPS Star Frontiers - This is a slow moving play by post (with some Roll20) campaign following two characters (both played by ArneJ) as we work through some Star Frontiers to GURPS conversions. Mostly done as play by post with some forays into Roll20 for combat scenes.

4) Grand Duchy of Adventure - This is my newest campaign, set in the Known World of Mystara (of old BECMI DnD fame) and following a group of fledgling adventurers. Going for a bit grittier, more sandbox flavor with this one. Game play is done with Roll20 every other week and heavy play by post contributions in-between.
99.9% of all the posts are campaign session play reports, so this one would definitely be placed under the Campaign Specific section.

Thank you for compiling all of this!

Paradise City is a "cyberpunk" setting for GURPS 4th ed. This is "game" cyberpunk, firmly in the tradition of GURPS Cyberpunk, Cyberpunk 2020 and Shadowrun.

The setting includes custom weapon and cyberware tables that could be used in any GURPS game.

The GURPS Magical Styles Fan Netbook is a collection of magical styles written by fans in accordance with the rules in GURPS Magical Styles.

While I started the netbook, it belongs to the community and you can go ahead and add your homebrewed styles without asking permission first.

Re: GURPS Websites: Blogs, Wikis, Feeds . . .

Lineage

and

The Gift

are two distinct campaign settings in which the PCs play mages living secretly in the modern world. Both focus heavy on wizard politics and factionalism, though wizard PCs might get up to any sort of adventures.

In The Gift the power blocs in mage society have formed around different approaches to magic, with the Hermetic Council, the nature worshiping Circle, and the technophile Cooperative jostling for power while the independent orders refuse to bow to anyone. 31 orders of mage are described, 9 council, 5 Circle, 5 Cooperative, and and 12 Independent.

In Lineage power is concentrated in the great wizard families, ruling over humanity as magical aristocracy since ancient times and plotting against each other for control. Arrayed against them are the wizard orders of the Rebellion, fighting to protect humanity from the great mage houses and the forces of Hell. 27 orders of mage are described, 16 great houses and 11 orders of the Rebellion.

And keep it fairly short. I have a limited amount of space to work with so I can't have a post about every minutiae of your blog. Just a quick overview please.
