Lost in Dreams [Jacob]
Jacob Miller dreamed of demons that night. Large, hulking demons with horns, wings, scales, and glowing eyes. He also dreamed of team of... warriors? fighting them. One of them blasted away at the demons with a shot gun, while three others waded in with swords. A fifth warrior, less athletic than the others, appeared to be a wizard. He spent the entire fight chanting, power flowing from him, pulsing with the light of a bright white circle than filled the room. The demons skin repeatedly mended itself from the shotgun pellets, but the swords went through their skin like butter, lopping off limbs. The fighting never crossed the circle, and the demons were eventually lying on the floor, dead.
The wizard dropped his arms, and the circle changed to a deep red. The man with the shot-gun put it down and pulled out a magnifying glass. The men with the swords began bagging the different parts of the demons, and the wizard began chanting over one corpse.... Jacob woke to driving rain. He was completely naked, lying in a back ally, and without even the benefit of a cardboard box. It was still dark outside, and from the temperature he guessed he was somewhere in the northwest. |
Re: Lost in Dreams [Jacob]
"What the hell?"
When the darkness isn't quick to answer, Jacob takes stock of his surroundings. "Okay, so: naked, dark alley, getting rained on. Let's deal with that last one first." Jacob tries to find some sort of shelter from the rain, but without leaving the alley -- last he remembered he was crashing on a couch with some old hippie named Moonstar, but the nakedness might not be so popular on the streets of... "Seattle? Is this Seattle? Ugh, Moonstar swore those brownies were just brownies." He looks around for something (an old newspaper? a pizza box?) to at least hide his crotch with so he can leave the alley to take a look around. |
Re: Lost in Dreams [Jacob]
Fortunately for Jacob, there is a well stocked (and covered) dumpster in the ally, and he is able to find a good amount of cardboard and some children's clothing (with lots of ketchup and a nasty tear). The city doesn't look too big, and Jacob doesn't recognize the skyline... at least not the buildings. The mountains might look vaguely familiar. Its certainly not Seattle or Portland.

Re: Lost in Dreams [Jacob]
Jacob tries to fit some children's pants over his legs, or if that fails then just tie something together and hope it comes out more sarong than loincloth.
"Alright, so, no Seattle. Doesn't look like Portland, either. Where am I? How long was I out?" He starts digging around in the dumpster for newspapers, receipts, flyers -- anything that might have writing and give him some clue about his whereabouts. And, as a secondary priority, what day it is. |
Re: Lost in Dreams [Jacob]
(OCC: oh the usefulness of what we throw away)
Jacob can't actually fit the child's pants on, but the shirt is fairly useful in covering up. He finds a paper, which appears to be the local news... and doesn't recognize the town. In fact, he recognizes the location (Tacoma), but the city certainly isn't here under normal circumstances. The newspaper claims its 2006. |
Re: Lost in Dreams [Jacob]
Jacob stares blankly at the paper, then repeats his first question of the day. "What the hell?" On a whim, he looks through the paper for mentions of demons, but also tries to see if he can figure out what's going on -- or find some signs that this is a gag paper. He won't devote much time to the process (Jacob has never been big on spending a long time at any one task), and after a cursory skim of the paper, he heads out toward whatever street the alley connects with.
He'll try to see the moon, to figure out if he can use it to guage how much time has passed. "Last night I think it was a waxing quarter.. let's see how many days I lost." (OOC: If for some reason the phase of the moon when Jacob went to sleep last night is significant and should be different, I'll fix it. It is the sort of thing he keeps track of, though.) |
Re: Lost in Dreams [Jacob]
The paper appears to be quite serious. There is no mention of demons in it, mostly articles about a kick-back scandal recently uncovered in between a city commissioner and a construction company. There's not even an article on gunfire at odd moments of the day.
The moon isn't visible, due to the clouds raining on him. The paper says its a waxing half-moon. |
Re: Lost in Dreams [Jacob]
"Okay, so either few days have passed or some multiple of 28 days. Or maybe negative 7 years."
Jacob heads out onto one of the streets adjoining the alley, holding the confusing newspaper up as an ineffective umbrella, and looks around to see if he can see anyone out in the rain, or any businesses open where he can take shelter. |
Re: Lost in Dreams [Jacob]
There are lots of different overhangs. Its early in the morning, so most places aren't open, but Jacob sees a few that might be. The 7-11 a mile down the road or so most certainly is. There are only a few cars out. Surprisingly enough, a group of three people are walking down the side walk towards him. One of them is a huge hulking fellow with coarse unkempt hair. He is wearing a heavy Leather jacket and completely drenched One of them is a rather lithe woman, with short hair and carrying an umbrella and wearing rain jacket. The third is a balding, older man, who carries a brief case, a frown, an umbrella, and is throughly not enjoying himself.
The woman stands out the most. There are probably three reasons for that. The first was the feel she seemed to have. Jacob couldn't explain it. There was just SOMETHING going on around her. In and out of her, even. The second reason was he'd seen her before... wielding a sword in dream he had just earlier... except... yes, not only were the clothes different, but this woman's hair was longer than in the dream. The third reason was she was a woman, and he was all but naked, feeling rather self-conscious of the fact. |
Re: Lost in Dreams [Jacob]
Jacob brightens at the sight of people, even if they seemed to be from a crazy dream about demons. He tries to make himself as decent as he can, and calls out in what he hopes is a nonthreatening, sane-sounding voice.
"Excuse me! I seem to have lost my clothes. Also, I have no idea where I am. Oh, and if you could tell me the date as well that would be great." |
