HMOH and Hireling / Cheat

Situation
My Level and Bonuses add up to 17.
I look for trouble against a Gazebo, which I make ancient.
Eek, I'm losing.

I play my help me out here, and steal my girlfriends Cheating Cheese Grater of Peace (being neither a cleric nor having hands free)

In my defence, the Cheat Card is inseperable from the Cheese Grater.

We have previously played that stolen hirelings bring their weapons with them.

Thoughts?

Cheat! explicitly says that it is discarded when you lose the attached Item. Hirelings can't be stolen at all. (Most of them aren't even Items.)

We've been playing treasure = item...

And the item isnt lost so much as transfered.

But if its a no, oh well

The Hirelings that are Items (Budget Steed and a few Sidekicks in Super) can be stolen though, right?

Items are cards that have a value in Gold Pieces, including the text "No Value", at the bottom right of the card. Thus, Hireling from Munchkin is not an Item.

If any Item leaves your play area, it is considered lost to you, even if you intentionally traded it away.

I always thought the hirelings that were items could be stolen too

More research needed.

The rules define what an Item is. An Item must have a gold piece value (which includes the value "No value"). Also, there are Items which are not Treasure cards (Steeds from Munchkin 4, Munchkin 5, and Munchkin 8 are a great example of this), so your Treasure = Item equation falls apart there.

This boils down to one question: Did the person suddenly not have the Item anymore? The answer is yes, so it was lost to them, and the Cheat! card goes to the discards.

On the topic of lost items,

if a player is afflicted with the chicken on their head curse.
Can they trade/give their headgear to someone to remove the chicken.
So a cahoot could take it and give it back to remove the curse?

Curse! Chicken On Your Head says that only Curses and Bad Stuff that gets rid of your Headgear will get rid of the chicken.

Thus, if you give away or sell your Headgear, the Chicken will just perch on your head instead.

But as I know Wishin Ring CANCELS ANY Curse, why not Chicken On Your Head too?
