[6eVP]: The Grand Polling Scoreboard
It looks like the other thread about the polls was locked, as it was getting testier and testier even as it grew more informative. May I ask a favor? KevinR, you posted the raw data on the polls. Would you mind reposting it in this thread?
And may I ask another favor of my fellow 6eVPs (and others)? Let's not do any responding on this thread. Rather, let's keep this thread strictly for informational purposes regarding the results of the private polls--we can spin off our commentary (arguments) in separate threads (rants). :) Maybe this could even be stickied. edit: Thanks Melichor! |
First Poll:
Total Voters: 901.
Choose the ONE option that best describes your preferred Car Wars 6e. A straight reprint of the previous Deluxe Edition/Car Wars Compendium 2.5. Same rules, same art, same pretty much everything. (Comment: This would be the fastest to produce.) 13 votes. 1.44% A boxed set with the Deluxe Edition and Compendium 2.5. Rules unchanged. New graphic design, new art, and we might even die-cut the counters. (Comment: Second fastest.) 106 votes. 11.76% Start with 2.5, but turn it into a smaller, faster game. Strip it down to cars and cycles. 1990 "Car Wars Classic" approach. New graphic design and art, of course. (Comment: Now we are in redesign / replaytest territory, but we are starting with known rules and reducing them, so: third fastest. Likely a 2014 release.) 220 votes. 24.42% Start with 2.5, but turn it into a MUCH smaller, faster game. Strip it down to cars and cycles. 20xx “Car Wars 5th Edition” approach, but scale would be open to discussion. New graphic design and art, of course. (More rules changes than #3, so fourth fastest.) 72 votes. 7.99% A complete redesign. Similar complexity to 2.5, but aim for faster play. Again, new graphic design and art. (Fifth fastest. Now we are in “probably not in 2014” territory.) 349 votes. 38.73% Start with 2.5. Add MORE detail and complexity. Again, new graphic design and art. (Potentially huge amounts of time, depending on what kind of complexity.) 40 votes. 4.44% A complete redesign. Much less complexity than 2.5, aiming for significantly faster play. (Who knows? If every single thing about the game might potentially be changed, it’ll take months of surveys just to decide what to do.) 101 votes. 11.21% |
What Does Complexity Mean?
Total Voters: 136.
“Similar complexity to 2.5, but aim for faster play.” Choose ONE of the following: Vehicle design and game play should be of a complexity similar to 2.5. 15 votes. 11.03% Vehicle design should be of a similar complexity to 2.5 with lots of depth and several options. Game play should be streamlined and faster than 2.5. 114 votes. 83.82% Vehicle design should be quicker and easier than 2.5. Game play should be of a similar complexity to 2.5. 7 votes 5.15% |
When Did You Last Play Car Wars?
Total Voters: 130.

It would be nice though if the poll results were the only posts in this thread, and they don't get buried under a lot of noise. |
