Tied for Lowest Level question
In the Conan Munchkin deck there is a curse that causes the cursed person to show their hand and have the lowest person take a card. The rule states that if there is a tie for lowest they both take a card. If you are the lowest person however, we are told that the player "just" discards a card.
The issue was that the player who drew the card was tied for last place...so did the other person in last place get to steal a card or was the cursed individual sufficiently last enough to "just" discard. My reasoning for thinking it is the latter is that the intent is for a lower placed person to take a card from somewhere higher levelled, or rather the higher levelled to lose a card to the lower. If they are both tied than it seems too much to have the other last place person take a card. That and the 2nd rule requiring both people to draw a card from the hand seems impossible; if one of the persons actually has the hand, he can't really draw from it per the rules... Thoughts...? |
Re: Tied for Lowest Level question
Other similar rules, like that for Charity, give the trump to the "if you are lowest" clause. They are generally written as "if you are lowest or tied for lowest," so you could argue that this one is different due to the wording, but it seems more likely that it is meant to be treated the same way, meaning you would just discard a card when tied for lowest.
Oh, and for help with future searches (or for others to check the card text), it appears the card in question is Curse! Conan is Drunk Again! |
Re: Tied for Lowest Level question
We just ran into that in our last game of Munchkin Conan, and we played it the opposite way... Everyone at the table was Level 9, so we had everyone take a card from the victim's hand.

Re: Tied for Lowest Level question
If you are the lowest Level, whether or not you are tied for that Level, you discard a card rather than letting people steal a card from you.

Re: Tied for Lowest Level question
Many thanks, that clears up the issue handily.
