DFRPG Game Aids: Computer Programs
 
This is the right place to post descriptions of and links to executable game aids for computers (Linux, Mac, PC, etc.). Per our online policy, we do not currently give permission for mobile apps (be they for Android, Blackberry, iOS, or something else).

Warning: Links to malicious content – such as viruses and trojans – will trigger immediate deletion and a permanent ban without appeal.

I've made a web app that helps DFRPG players or GMs create spells using the DF19 Incantation Magic rules. The app is found here:

Where can I find files for the GCA? I have the files for the DF pdf series, but box set DF is different in many areas...

I have a draft version of the file available from my OneDrive here: Dungeon Fantasy RPG - Standalone Draft.gdf.

There is a thread in the GCA forum for it here: thread

The link I gave you above is to the most recent version of the file, so you don't need to download the drafts linked in that thread. However, Bruno was working on equipment, so I think there's a link to a file for that (so far) in the thread, too. There's also some discussion of bugs/issues in the file, which may be helpful to you if you run across some. Or you can post your own to that thread, too.

And I forgot that the Standalone file does not actually stand alone, since the draft file for Spells is still separate.

Here is the draft Spells file: Dungeon Fantasy RPG - Spells Draft.gdf. Sorry for the omission.

NEW FILE AVAILABLE FROM THIS POST.

Okie doke, I believe I've made all the corrections I had in my bug list. (Except for the request for DFRPG specific character sheets. No time for that yet.)

I've removed the previous files, and the Standalone (which really wasn't) and Spells files are combined (I kept forgetting they were separate), and the new file should be available from my OneDrive here:

I still have it marked Incomplete because I haven't incorporated Bruno's equipment stuff, nor made any attempt to look at equipment stuff myself.

As always, please let me know if you have issues.

There are two things outstanding that can't be addressed at this time:

1) Raising skills from default. GCA4 isn't able to turn that off.
2) Needs "X Spells," can never be satisfied, due to the file's extensive use of ident() and countasneed(), which aren't processed by generic needs like that. You may just want to delete that need from needs() once the character is built.

The Weapon Master and Weapon Bond modifiers weren't appearing in the modifiers listings for weapons, because they were in a modifier group that wasn't referenced by the weapons.

The easiest fix was to change the <Weapon> modifier group to <_Weapon> so that GCA would see it as a globally applicable group, and make it available to all the things through the drop-down.

So, that's what I've done for now.

Here's the new Dungeon Fantasy RPG.gdf file.

You'll have to load this new file, then any existing characters will need to resync their Equipment (and the stuff on the left side of the dialog).

Once that's done, in the Modifiers dialog, you should see _Weapon in the drop-down list, and that's where the _Advantage: Weapon Master Damage Bonus and _Perk: Weapon Bond modifiers will appear.

Are you loading any files other than Dungeon Fantasy RPG?

I just created a character with only that file loaded, added all three skills, then Bardic Talent, and I'm clearly seeing all three receive the bonus.

Seems to work now when I start a new PC, Not sure why it didn't when I loaded the new data set.

If you have an existing character, remember that you have to Resynchronize to update the existing traits on that character to the new data.

Just as a curiosity, is there a way to build new bardsong abilities inside the file? I used powers before, but didn’t see a way to do that here.

There's no builder as such, no, so it would require all manual editing.

ETA: I've added a note to look at adding a builder for the file. If I get to it, it will likely only happen in the GCA5 version.
