Fae Ray

I'm having a difficult time finding any threads on the Fae Ray card. The card says that opponents may not play cards to assist the monster.

1. Does this mean that no cards can be played for the entire combat to assist the monster once Fae Ray is played? Or does it just get rid of cards that were played prior to Fae Ray being played?

2. What does "assist the monster" mean? I interpret it as one-shot items and monster enhancers. Can you use cards like Mate, Two-Headed, etc. or wander in monsters?

Hmmmm. The database entry for Fae Ray says nothing about not being allowed to play cards. It says to discard all cards that were played to help the Monsters. Since it says Monsters, Wandering Monster and the Monster that come with it wouldn't count. So, one-shot Items and Monster Enhancers would get discarded.
