Default WWI U.S. Army Engineer bolo machete - Stats?

http://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedi...olotypemachete

Most machetes were cheap metal, not meant to last. This seems to be rather better designed and built, and much more heavy-duty.

Any ideas?

In size, it's a falchion. Those stats would do fine for it.

It's not long enough to be used with Broadsword skill, though it might be heavy enough to be unbalanced. If it is, I'd use Axe/Mace skill for it.

I wondered about "unbalanced," too. A friend of mine has the U.S. Marine version, which has a similar design but weighs less. I was looking for something that would make better tool than weapon, though.

I'm not sure I believe the "5 pounds" figure, since its pretty clear that the seller is just guessing. You could check it against the volume of the blade times the density of iron. So I'd call it a Good or Fine Falchion. Call it Cheap balance if it really weighs 5 lbs, but if its balanced to chop trees it can probably chop arms.

That is a Collins # 1005 bolo. They are just over 2 pounds.

In that case, it's probably a falchion or possibly a small falchion.

Cool. I'll go with a "Good" quality small falchion.

Thanks for the help, everybody.
