Default RULE CHANGE: Undead monsters

We are officially adding the following rule to ALL Munchkin games:

Quote:
Undead Monsters
Several monsters in this set are tagged Undead. You may play any Undead monster from your hand into combat to help any other Undead, without using a Wandering Monster card.
This change affects all sets except Super Munchkin, which has no Undead . . . but if we add some, it'll affect them, too. Zombies and Axe Cop already had this rule, but we clarified the wording just a tiny bit. And there were a couple of Undead monsters that already included this effect, but they're big and nasty as it is and we don't think this weakens them at all.

Clarification: We're not making this change to Munchkin Quest. Just the card games.

Comments? Questions? (Yes, we're updating the rulesheets and the errata pages. That should all be done inside of a week.)

Wow, that's going to change my Fantasy Munchkin games.

Or maybe it isn't. I'm not actually sure how many undead monsters I'm likely to run across in a typical game of Fantasy. I'm sure you guys playtested this rules change, anyway, so I'll just trust that I'm not going to get mobbed by Undead monsters every turn when I try for the win.

Most of the "objection" to this rule was weakening the Monsters we knew had this rule, and, well, they're pretty nasty, as Andrew said. There aren't enough Undead to make this a problem, from what could be determined.

Great idea, I think it will simplify things across all genres.

Would that mean the Munchkin Zombies Sherpa now works for all games* or still as is the written rule "only in a game of Munchkin Zombies"

"probably still only zombies

Out of curiosity, is there a reason this change is being made? Is it trying to address some sort of minor gameplay issue?

The rule says you may add "any" undead monster from your hand to a battle with an undead monster already in it.

Does this mean I can add multiple undead monsters from my hand to the same battle? Or is there an implied limit of one per person per turn?

Steve and I discussed it and decided that the Undead-stacking mechanic in Zombies and Axe Cop added to the fun of those games, and that it should be ported to the rest of the line.

There is neither an implied limit nor an explicit one.

Can I also add a monster using the "Undead +5 to Monster" card? Or does the monster have to already be undead?

Since that card makes the Monster Undead, the rule would apply.
