Rolling a different die is not a reroll. Your friend is trying to cheat and should be dunked into syrup.

A FAQ is not an appropriate place to place optional rules.

The more I research MQ the more I realized you guys made some "errors" on the rules.

I really like playing with these rules: http://forums.sjgames.com/showthread.php?t=73768

I wonder how games retroactively correct rules? Reprintings? Editions? I don't know these things for sure.

On another subject:

- Do monsters stop at The Boss if they pass by then in movement?
(Yes. They join the carnage)

- Do monsters other than The Boss get effected by cards the make them go away, die, ignore etc during a Boss Battle?
(Yes, but you can't mess with the Boss itself)

- Can you exchange your items for loot at anytime during your tun other than in battle?
(Not unless a deal says so. Check the room you are in for what deals are offered. If not, then no you can't.)

- Can I ever force a monster to move outside of the Monster Movement Phase?
(Not traditionally, cards who say otherwise can do this.)

- Can I ever force a Munchkin to move during his turn outside of combat?
(Not traditionally, cards who say otherwise can do this.)

- Do monsters always take health if you lose a battle, even if you successfully ran away?
(You flip your health token the moment you lose a fight, despite escaping or not)

- What happens when someone rolls a monster die and the color does not match anyone at the table? Do you pick? If you so, does he get a DeM card?
(If rolling for Monster Movement, no one gets a DeM. If rolling to dictate the standie, and the roll matches your color- then you get one. If it doesn't but is switched to yours by default YOU DON'T GET A DeM CARD!)

- When you make a monster your familiar like the pet fire dragon or the grabby hand, does the monster+standie follow your Munchkin around?
(The standie gets freed up. You keep the card. Keeping the little monster cut out is your option.)

[QUOTE=stopyelling;1262851]

Haven't seen many of these pop up, so I'm not sure how many might find their way into the FAQ. . .

(Don't know?)
I'm not sure what you're talking about here. You can't exchange Items for gold just because you want to. You have to perform a Deal, and then that's related to the room you are in. Deals typically cost a Move and can't be performed when a Monster is present. (p 7., "Making Deals")

Quote:
- Can I ever force a monster to move outside of the Monster Movement Phase?
(From what I know, no.)
The cards that say they can be used to move a Monster say "yes."

Quote:

There are cards that say they can be used to move a player and from what I can tell, they can do that at any time, so I'd say the answer is "yes."

Quote:

(From what I know, yes.)
According to the rules, you flip your tokens as part of losing, before you even try to Run Away.

Quote:

(From what I know, no.)
It depends on why you're rolling the Monster Die. For Monster movement, you don't pick, you just move all the Monsters along that color path, if possible. If you're choosing a base, you have to pick the color of an active player. Regardless, if the color rolled doesn't match, then no one gets a DxM.

(From what I know, I have no idea)
No. You free up the base and keep the card. If you want to keep the standie with the card, that's fine, but the base gets freed up.

I may have been unclear about the purpose of this thread. It's not to ask a bunch of new questions, but to suggest questions that are asked frequently so we can create a list of those questions and answers to point to. If you have new questions about MQ, please start new threads to ask them.

Ouch!

Uh... can you move my posts into their own threads? Sorry!

Is there any anticipated release date to an update of the FAQ posted on the product page? I really like to be able to send players to a definitive source for rules questions.

It's been in progress for far longer than I care to contemplate; the problem is that it's not as high-priority as getting games to print, so it keeps bumping down the list. (And for the last couple of weeks, if it wasn't Ogre or Apocalypse, I didn't even look at it.)

I hope to get it done before Memorial Day. But I can't promise it.
