I have never owned any Gurps fantasy books and I was wondering if the new 4th edition book will have monster stats. I plan to run a Illuminati University campaign and one my players wants to play a unicorn. Hence I hope the new book will have appropriate stats. If not has anyone heard if they are releasing a monster-type book. Thanks.

There will likely be at least a small fantasy bestiary, covering the most popular fantasy creatures. I don't know if they're working on a full Fantasy Bestiary book, but one for previous editions of GURPS does exist, so that might be worth checking out.

Frankly, I'd give them stats as per Cash Cows ( http://www.sjgames.com/pyramid/sample.html?id=2576 -- sample article, complete and free), and just figure out how much that costs. Or else I'd give them stats as per a meep, after the first time they wake up in Lazarus -- as a bonsai unicorn. But then, my players often call me evil. Can't think why. |

Truly I am luck to have such a luminary respond to my post. Thanks for In Nomine. I never go to run it, but it was a hell of a read. I might have to try the cash cow stats. Thanks for the tip.

She used to give us no problems with Lazarus - until you had died a couple of times in a term. Then, as you died more times, the methods used became more and more experimental. One PC spent time as a petunia (conscious and able to see and communicate) while his body was being rebuilt by ants. In full view; they wouldn't move the pot he was in out of the room in case they lost him and put his soul back in the wrong body... Another came out green and photosynthetic. Me, I came out once with a soul stitched together from bits they had left over. From what I can't imagine. I had no soul of my own at that point, so I was still moving, a plus! ;) Snake tanifas can curse your soul if you look at them - now, I can tell you what one looks like... I did get it back, eventually; being the priest of the ArchDean is useful sometimes! :D
