Default Hot Lead - will we ever see it?

If I recall correctly, Hot Lead was to wargaming (in this case stuff like Warhammer, Mage Knights, De Bellis Homepagius (aka DBM), etc.) what GURPS is to roleplaying. One system to rule all scales and options. One set of rules would allow you to play anything from single characters (like Ogre and Mage Knight) to groups (like Squad Leader), from fantasy (Warhammer) to science fiction (Warhammer 40k). If I recall correctly, it was also meant to be compatible with GURPS. I also heard that Steve was unsatisfied with the system, so it was never published.

I was wondering if there are any plans to finish/publish this?

Someone get the +25 Heat-Resistant Shielding up before Steve Jackson sees this... please?

Did I just start jumping up and down on a land mine, at the top of a mountain, in a thunderstorm, with copper plate maile on, screeming "All Gods are <bad word of your choice>!"?

If so, I will withdraw the question...

This is a shame as I'm sick of Gouger's Workshop dominating the miniature wargame market. I'm sure SJG could do games better and cheaper than they do.

I'm not so sure about that. Ogre failed as a miniatures line.

Actually I guess we're talking about different things. I'm sure SJG can do a game better (and maybe cheaper) than Games Workshop. I'm not sure SJG can be successful doing it.

Abydos has a better chance of becoming a Full Fledged 4th Edition LINE for GURPS than Hot Lead has of coming out.

Well, Ogre is a 'huge scale' game where individual soldiers are treated as squads and vehicles dominate. Now in that genre ogre has done better than most Gouger's Workshop lines, like adeptus titanicus, space marine, epic, etc.

So I'd hesistate to call ogre a failure after being around going on 30 years!

SJG has dome a more successful 'vehicle scale' miniature wargame that gouger's workshop has, so there's little reason to assume they could not do a 'personal scale' one that could match warhammer/40K.
