Default Singing & Dancing Sword

The Singing & Dancing Sword (Munchkin Base Set, Treasure card) does not have "1 Hand" in the corner like I would expect it to.

The Munchkin FAQ page (http://www.worldofmunchkin.com/faq/) says "any item that uses Hands can be considered a weapon, as can items like the Singing and Dancing Sword that are obviously weapons" but the card does not say '1 Hand' on it, and yet it is most definitely a weapon.

I cannot find anything in the Munchkin errata pages to say that this is an omission so I'm wondering, Is this just a long overlooked error?

Not an error. It's a weapon that takes 0 hands.

I think (as in, I know) it has something to do with the fact that it's a singing and dancing sword, that has its own legs and feet to dance around on.

It's a play on the D&D Dancing Blade which is a weapon that floats in the air and fights on its own for the owner, requiring no hands to use.

And also a play on the Singing Sword, of Arthurian (and Bugs Bunnian) Legend.

And, see, it's funny, because it's both a Singing Sword AND a Dancing Sword, and so it's like two fantasy tropes bound up in one card.

<kills joke, takes one level and three Treasures>

Thanks everyone, that really does explain everything.

Perhaps, though, future releases of Munchkin should say '0 Hands' (in the same way that the 2-Handed Sword says '-1 Hands') if for no other reason than to stop people like me asking damn stoopid questions.

hey smilie ;) The confusion stems from you trying to force 'hands' on a weapon, when the FAQ is essentially forcing 'weapon' onto hands.

i.e. If it requires hands, it's a weapon. If it doesn't require hands, it still *might* be a weapon (as with the S&D Sword) but it isn't for sure.
