Human disadvantages throughout life (from craddle to grave)
Just for fun I think it could be interesting to stat out the different disadvantages you typically go through in life. But it’s not to be to serious, so anything kliché-ridden hollywood style is appropriate, although I also get a good bit of it from child psychology.
Also I think it could be fun to do both a male and female version. To make it a bit easier I think it should be some age groups, so we have: Newborn, Baby, Toddler, Young Kid, Kid, Preteen, Teen, Young adult, Adult, Mature, Middleage, Aged, Old. The ages are just exemplary. I know that's a lot of age groups, but people really do change throughout their entire lives. I will start out with some templates and hope other will comment and join in :) I'm sure there is lots of details I have missed, lively discussions are encouraged! ;) --- NEWBORN (0-3 month) (~ -476 pts) ST: 2 | DX: 2 | IQ: 2 | HT: 7 SM:-3 Cannot speak (wailing only) [-20] Wealth (dead broke) [-25] Social Stigma (baby) [-10] Ads Double-Jointed [15] Patron (parents, 200% CP) {Constantly} [60] Pitiable [5] Disads Color blindness [-10] Bad smell (Diaper, {6 or less} x2, mitigator: can be changed with fresh diaper -80%) [-4 pts] Dependency (Mother or Bottled milk) [?] Delusion (I am the only thing of importance in the world) [-15] Extra sleep 6 (14 hours) [-12] Lame (can’t use legs) [-30] BABY (4-11 month) (~ -357 pts) ST: 3 | DX: 4 | IQ: 4 | HT: 8 SM:-3 Cannot speak (baby noises) [-15] Wealth (dead broke) [-25] Social Stigma (baby) [-10] Ads Double-Jointed [15] Patron (parents, 200% CP) {Constantly} [60] Pitiable [5] Disads Bad smell (Diaper, {12 or less} x1, mitigator: can be changed with fresh diaper -80%) [-2 pts] Chummy (gregarious) [-10] Callous (pure survival instinct) [-10] Curious {15 or less} [-10] Extra sleep 5 (13 hours) [-10] Horizontal [-5] Short Attention Span {12 or less} [-10] TODDLER (1-2) (~ -263 pts) ST: 5 | DX: 6 | IQ: 6 | HT: 8 SM:-3 Native Language (broken/none) [-5] Wealth (dead broke) [-25] Social Stigma (baby) [-10] Ads Flexibility [5] Patron (parents, 200% CP) {15 or less} [45] Pitiable [5] Disads Chummy [-5] Curious {12 or less} [-5] Extra sleep 3 (11 hours) [-6] Gullibility {6 or less} [-20] Bad smell (Diaper, {9 or less} 1/2, mitigator: can be changed with fresh diaper -80%) [-1 pts] Oblivious [-5] Short Attention Span {15 or less} [-5] Quirk: Distractible [-1] YOUNG KID (3-6) (~ -214 pts) ST: 6 | DX: 7 | IQ: 7 | HT: 9 SM:-2 Native Language (accented/none) [-4] Wealth (dead broke) [-25] Social Stigma (minor) [-5] Ads Flexibility [5] Patron (parents, 200% CP) {12 or less} [30] Pitiable [5] Disads Confused {12 or less} [-10] Curious {9 or less} [-3] Extra sleep 3 (11 hours) [-4] Guilt Complex [-5] Gullibility {9 or less} [-15] Klutz [-5] Oblivious [-5] Quirk: Broad-Minded [-1] Quirk: Distractible [-1] Quirk: Congenial [-1] KID (6-10) (~ -156) ST: 7 | DX: 8 | IQ: 8 | HT: 9 SM:-2 Native Language (native/broken) [-2] Wealth (poor) [-15] Social Stigma (minor) [-5] Ads Patron (parents, 200% CP) {12 or less} [30] Pitiable [5] Disads Confused {15 or less} [-5] Curious {6 or less} [-2] Extra sleep 2 (10 hours) [-4] Guilt Complex [-5] Gullibility {12 or less} [-10] Impulsiveness {6 or less} [-20] Quirk: Oblivious [-1] Quirk: Distractible [-1] Quirk: Congenial [-1] PRETEEN (10-12) (~ -94 pts) ST: 8 | DX: 9 | IQ: 9 | HT: 10 SM:-1 Native Language (native/accented) [-1] Wealth (poor) [-15] Social Stigma (minor) [-5] Ads Patron (parents, 150% CP) {12 or less} [20] Perk: “Pitiable” [1] Disads OPH (question everything) [-5] Extra sleep 1 (9 hours) [-4] Gullibility {15 or less} [-5] Impulsiveness {9 or less} [-15] Stubbornness [-5] TEEN (13-18) (~ -71 pts) ST: 9 | DX: 10 | IQ: 10 | HT: 10 SM:0 Native Language (native/native) [0] Wealth (struggling) [-15] Social Stigma (minor) [-5] Ads Patron (parents, 150% CP) {12 or less} [20] Disads Compulsive carousing {12 or less} [-10] Delusion (“Grownups don’t understand anything!”) [-5] Extra sleep 1 (9 hours) [-2] Impulsiveness {12 or less} [-10] Lecherousness {9 or less} [-23] Low Self-image [-10] or Overconfidence [-5] Selfish {15 or less} [-3] Quirk: Slow Riser [-1] Quirk: Alcohol Intolerance [-1] Quirk: Laziness [-1] YOUNG ADULT (19-24) (~ -14 pts) ST: 10 | DX: 10 | IQ: 10 | HT: 10 SM:0 Wealth (struggling) [-15] Ads Patron (parents, 150% CP) {9 or less} [10] Disads Quirk: Impulsiveness [-1] Lecherousness {15 or less} [-8] ADULT (25-35) (~ 23 pts) ST: 10 | DX: 10 | IQ: 11 | HT: 10 Wealth: average [0] Ads Patron (parents, 150% CP) {6 or less} [5] Disads Delusion (Kids are all Clueless) [-1] Dependents (kids) [?] Quirk: Proud [-1] MATURE (36-50) (~ 29 pts) ST: 10 | DX: 10 | IQ: 11 | HT: 10 Wealth: Comfortable [10] Ads - Disads Quirk: Incurious [-1] Dependents (kids) [?] MIDDLEAGED (50-65) (~ 2 pts) ST: 9 | DX: 9 | IQ: 11 | HT: 9 Wealth: wealthy [20] Ads Common Sense [5] Less Sleep 1 (7 hours) [2] Disads Incurious {15 or less} [-3] Quirk: Staid [-1] Quirk: Minor Handicaps [-1 or more] AGED (65-80) (~ -83 pts) ST: 8 | DX: 8 | IQ: 10 | HT: 8 Wealth: average [0] Ads Common Sense [5] Less Sleep 1 (7 hours) [2] Social Regard 1 (Venerated) [6] Disads Incurious {12 or less} [-5] Quirk: Dull [-1] Handicaps [-10 or more] OLD (80+) (~ -191 pts) ST: 7 | DX: 7 | IQ: 9 | HT: 7 Wealth: struggling [-10] Ads Social Regard 2 (Venerated) [7] Disads Hidebound [-5] Incurious {9 or less} [-7] Miserliness {15 or less} [-5] Low tech level 1 (TL:7) [-5] OPH: “Now when I was a kid…”) [-5] Quirk: Humble [-1] Major Handicaps [-20 or more] Last edited by Maz; 09-20-2009 at 09:32 AM. |

Looks good so far, but why would you give teens Alcohol Intolerance? This is not really a generic trait but depends on the individual: body mass, how fast your liver is able to process waste, etc.

I assume that that's the reason;teens typically have less of both qualities than they will as adults.

Since males tend to mature slower, perhaps give females Common Sense earlier?

Re: Human disadvantages throughout life (from craddle to grave)
I liked this post; it gave me a laugh and I might even use it as a guide for my tongue-in-cheek game set in 'the real world'. Nice work.
Maybe old people should have Miserliness together with 'OPH: Compulsively gives Grandchildren tiny amounts of money, while acting as if they're generous?' :p 'Five dollars for a good report card! Don't thank me, no. Don't spend it all at once!' |

Re: Human disadvantages throughout life (from craddle to grave)
Change it from "decent" to "something better then the dollar menu".

Re: Human disadvantages throughout life (from craddle to grave)
Hey, back when they were kids, $5 was a lot of money. :P
Then inflation and the 70s recession happened. |
