Re: Most common PC ship.
How about supplying the PCs with the GURPS Prime Directive: Deck Plans #1 - Klingon G1 Gunboat?
http://www.warehouse23.com/item.cgi?ADB8201 Just tell them its Jump-3 Maneuver-3.

Re: Most common PC ship.
My PCs have used Scout ships, mostly, with the occasional Empress Marava (we don't usually do the merchant style campaign).
But right now they are travelling to Glisten in a giant passenger liner. High passage and all the comforts of home. A new system every week, and also adventure to be had among the many passengers. I find that I actually like the PCs don't have a ship approach.
