I'm a little confused concerning the Search method. On page 7 the rules say "Roll your six sided dice to Search". That's all good! But later on page 20 in the search table it says "Roll one six sided die", which must be wrong since you can't reach the potential 12 roll with one die. Can someone clarify this please?

The standard search roll is with one die. There are several rooms and other cards that will allow you to roll 1 or more additional dice, along with several things that can modify your die roll from what you actually roll.

Each reason the room is Good for you will add another 6-sider, while each Bad reason will subtract one die.

So, for example, if you were a Thief (which gets a +1 to search rolls) and you were in the Den of Thieves (that has a green Thief icon and a red Cleric icon), then your search result is calculated by rolling 2 d6s and adding 1. The Thief class is giving you the +1 and the good icon for Thieves is allowing you to roll an extra die.
