First time building a Psionic NPC, am I doing it correctly?
If you know me from Mook's Discord server and plan to play my adventure, read no further =)
Hi guys, I'm prepping a one-shot (PCs raging from 100 to 150 points, have not made my mind yet) that calls for a psionic concept. Basically a woman with no control over Mind control, Terror and Telekinesis, but full control over Healing. Basically, she and her husband were attacked by a bunch of guys, and she lashed out on them (not consciously), killing them. One was left alive, that she then Mind controlled, forced him to go back to his home and murder his own family. I built her like this: Healing (Psionic;) [27] Mind control (Psionic; Puppet; Based on Will; Unconscious only; Uncontrollable (non-destructive power) [20] Telekinesis 10 (Psionic; Magnetic; Unconscious only; Uncontrollable (non-destructive power) [10] Terror (Will-0) (Psionic; Unconscious only; Uncontrollable (non-destructive power) [18] Is this gonna work as I intend it to? Quote:
I think it will, yeah - the Uncontrollable and Unconscious Only on Mind Control, Telekinesis, and Terror means that all of them could go off under stress and do things that she doesn't necessarily consciously want, which sounds like what happened. The mind-controlled person would have received another opportunity to break the control when ordered to murder their family, but you can easily handwave that they didn't break the control and went through with it. I would say that the Uncontrollable on both Mind Control and Telekinesis should be the full -30% for a harmful ability, not a "non-destructive power" - they're both absolutely capable of harming people directly, rather than just being embarrassing or obvious when set off. Of course, since this is an NPC, and presumably not an Ally, Dependent, Enemy, or similar trait-limited NPC for one of the PCs, you don't need to worry about precise point costs anyway - just define the effect you want to achieve. |
