Default Hireling question

Trying to settle a dispute. Can a hireling be used to force another player to escape from combat? Thanks in advance for any feedback received.

Not unless the Hireling card itself says so. In general, you can't force someone else out of a fight without an explicit statement to that effect -- if you have to ask, "Does this let me do this?" the answer is probably "nope."

Playing munchkin legends so pretty much standard cards. The card says "You may discard your hireling for an automatic escape from any monster." Thought it could be ambiguously worded being that it's used for an automatic escape from any monster whereas some cards say on your turn only.

It doesn't say you may discard it to force someone to escape, so you can't do it.
