I wrote up what I think the consensus role of the wizard should be in most fantasy role-playing games, and how the DF wizard compares to that consensus view.

After a long hiatus, I return to blogging with a post on
The Effectiveness of Artificers in Dungeon Fantasy

I think that as written, the template is a good design that is likely hampered by most GM's not letting a gadgeteer go crazy with inventions, but that GM's should work with the artificer's player to make them effective.

In my last article, I suggested that the key element to making artificers effective was to give them access to cool gadgets. Then I wrote an article that gave some examples of what I meant:

Characters in modern and science fiction games can have too much stuff to buy and keep track of. I make some suggestions on abstracting available equipment into supply dumps, based on some ideas from Action and Monster Hunters:

I wrote up some house rules for supply pools, based on the concepts in yesterday's post.

OK, I've looked at some of your stuff, and the reason that Artificers don't work so well is that their an attempt to port a late D&D 3.5 class types that doesn't work in GURPS DF: The magic item maker

Bruno's going to be starting a DF campaign using a bunch of the rules from my blog, including the revised shaman and College Ritual Book Magic. I'm probably going to end up as the shaman, so I thought I should make sure that shamans in particular and summoners in general worked with College Ritual Book Magic.

As part of the work for Bruno's new campaign, I added some new elements and forms to my Rational Damage Spells:

I also consolidated the Better Fantasy Armors work into a single page.

My online group's GM has been having difficulties with scheduling, so I suggested some alternate games they I would be willing to run. Mecha Against the Giants turned out to be popular, so I started noodling on mecha and giant design:

More information got written up (http://ottgaming.grimoire.ca/MAGT/Main), including a lot more detail on the mecha themselves.

I ran the first session of Mecha Assault on the Giants last night, and then I wrote about what happened.
