The above highlighted statement is deprecated and is no longer considered among the RAW. Dual-Weapon Attack is still a Technique, but Off-Hand Weapon Training is now - as of Martial Arts and reprinted in Power-Ups 2: Perks - a Perk, since for the same price as the Basic Set Technique you could just get Ambidexterity and not worry about off-hand penalties. Now you can train in your off hand for four different skills and still be cheaper than Ambidexterity.

I mentioned this in my post. OP asked about OHWT technique.

That is why they made it a perk. A person who wants to play a swashbuckler is able to do without the need to cash out 15-30 CP on OHWT.

Remember that while the combat option called "Dual-Weapon Attack" is allowed (with GM permission, of course) in a realistic campaign, the technique with the same name is a cinematic technique -- buying Trained By A Master [30] or Weapon Master [20 to 45] beforehand is one of the prerequisites to learn Dual-Weapon Attack technique. See Martial Arts, pp. 82-83.

Well, it turns into CP if you want Signature Gear and/or Weapon Bond. In which case you become stuck with the weapons you have.

And once you have WM/TbaM, stacking more Rapid Strikes is generally ultimately better anyway.

Martial Arts, p. 95: "The only hard-and-fast rule is that no technique should make it possible to buy off the penalties for Rapid Strike or multiple parries[.]"

Except of course Combos...

it should be noted DWA Technique does not you don't have to treat it as cinematic (hence required weapon master/tbtm) So the worset i would to is require Special Exersizies perk before leaning the technique.

Sure, but three skill levels only cost [12], provide an extra Rapid Strike at the same level, can be used without RS to target harder spots, provide a higher Parry, provide a bonus to resist Disarms, and many other goodies.

Yes. In fact, Combination technique does work similarly to Rapid Strike, but it's not Rapid Strike itself. See Martial Arts p. 127, which lists Rapid Strike, Combination and Dual-Weapon Attack as separate combat options.

What's important is to distinguish between DWA combat option and DWA technique. Any character can attempt DWA combat option at default with the GM's permission, but learning DWA technique to improve his roll above the default requires TbaM/WM (Martial Arts p. 82).

Strictly speaking, the perk that allows buy an otherwise cinematic skill or technique is not Special Exercises but Unusual Training (PU 2: Perks, p. 21).

I agree. There's a sort of tradeoff between buying DWA technique to offset the default penalty [5] and improving the underlying skill by 3 [12], but in many cases the latter is more useful.
