Default Is it too late to buy the OGRE 6.0 set?

I would like to know if it is too late to buy the $100 OGRE 6.0.
I have not been able to free up any funds until now.

Find a retailer who preordered, and get it from them (you might even be able to find a retailer who ordered extra copies of the Kickstarter edition, if you're lucky). Sorry, I have no idea which retailers that would be!

Try Eric Dow at Wonko's in Austin, TX. I know Eric ordered some of the Kickstarter edition to sell in his store, but I have no idea how many or whether any have yet to be spoken for by other customers.

There are going to be thousands of the non-Kickstarter edition going into regular retail distribution. No one has missed out on the game -- the only difference is that the Kickstarter sets include extra pieces. The regular retail edition has all the pieces necessary for every scenario in the set.

I stopped by Wonko's on the way home from lunch, and they have four copies of the Kickstarter edition that no one has claimed. If you want one, call them. Note: They won't be going for $100.

As Andrew indicated, lots of places will be selling the regular edition when it comes out. Kickstarter editions will be scarce.

ETA: Wonko's doesn't have copies, of course. They signed up for a bunch and have yet to have anyone claim four of them. (If memory serves, Eric got in for 20 copies.)

Additionally, since it's just traditional retail, you will need to find a store that will have some when it actually hits the shelves in (as of now) April.

If one wants a non-Kickstarter copy, one just needs an FLGS that will order a copy when the game is released, no?

Correct. Obviously the issue with that is the limited quantities that will be available, which is why pre-ordering is important. Which means it's important to find an FLGS that will pre-order for you to make sure they get a copy for you. My understanding is the cutoff for pre-orders for FLGSs through distributors has recently passed or will pass in the extremely near future. If that's true, then it's just up to being ready to jump on it as soon as it's released next year.

I'm not saying I expect every retail copy to instantly disappear, but some friendly encouragement for your FLGS to get on the ball is probably in order.

How much do they want for it? I would rather actually buy it from Steve Jackson Games for $100 or somewhere near that. If not - I cannot afford to buy a $150-$200 game when I have the miniatures and maps to play without it.

It's never too late... it's just a matter of how much you're willing to pay. :)
